Are you a petrolhead? If so what do you drive, and why?

I'm definitely a car nut.

I'm pretty skint, but I love cars and driving. I've had a few fairly entertaining cars in the past:-

Fabia vRS
Golf Mk2 GTI
Clio 172 and 182
Eunos RS Limited and a UK 1.8
MR2 Turbo
Integra Type-R DC2
Nissan 350Z Convertible
Primera GT
E36 328
Ford Puma

I'm currently driving an E46 328. I love it. Great place to site, lovely interior, handles great, quick, sounds great, not too expensive to run.

Nothing like going out for a hoon, taking in some scenery and enjoying some challenging roads away from the hustle and bustle.

Anyone else on here a petrolhead? What do you drive? What experiences have you had?

Jaguar XFR Super-charged V8 5.0 litres...err 510bhp:D.....50th Birthday present to myself...no rhyme or reason for buying a gas guzzling car other than I wanted one before the powers that be banned them....although at a very steady 65-70mph you can get just over 30mpg...give it some beans however and you are looking at very low to mid teens....take it to a race track and you'll get less than 10mpg!!!...5k miles average since new 24.5mpg...Acceleration...Starship enterprise esk...the big V8 makes for an incredibly refined and almost silent cruiser

I've had some daft cars. I drove an 03 plate 330ci M-Sport until earlier this year, when I moved jobs so was going to double my daily commute. Loved it, but it was getting tired so had to go. So now I drive a Vauxhall Insignia SRi VX-Line 2.0l diesel. Slower, but more practical.

Awesome choice! I was driving the same one until a few months back when I swapped over to the Panamera Turbo S. I absolutely adored the big Jag, but the Porsche, in my opinion, is a step up in performance. You drive one so you know damn well how insanely quick that Jag is for a car of it's size. The Porsche though, well that's just f**king ballistic and the handling for such a big car is simply staggering.

    I would class my husband as a petrol head. Not all his cars are super fast though - current fleet is;
    Lotus Esprit (S1)
    Lotus Europa
    Old vw beetle x 2
    Army issue landrover Ambulance
    Lotus Sunbeam
    Westfield
    Grand Cherokee
    Landrover defender LPG conversion.
    Rover P5B

    In the recent past;

    Audi a8 - I loved that car
Nissan Skyline R33 - he loved that. Looked like a **** in it though, such a 'Barry' car...
An old Volvo estate that had a ridiculously high BHP.

    And I like our shogun.

Currently the new Mercedes A Class Sport

Previous motors in my driving history:
    Ferrari 430
    Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
    Mitsubishi Evo - incredible car

Just enjoyed a Chevy Camaro SS in the US - 6.2 litre V8. Beautiful sound and huge power, though the torque seemed underpowered especially compared to the Evo and even to the Mercedes.

Great thread, got me thinking about the cars I've had over the years -

Late 80's early 90's had three XR3's, went from them to a 2wd Sapphire Cosworth, next up was a 4wd Sapphire Cosworth after that I went into a Subaru faze, started with a WRX then a Impreza P1 then an Impreza STI8
Then it was time for being a bit sensible and growing up a bit, a 5 series BMW Diesel, then it was an X5, next up was a Range Rover Sport and an Audi A4 convertible, finally we now have another X5 and BMW 520d M Sport.
When I think about it, we've spent a bloody fortune over the years, scary scary stuff!

Did I misread or did someone actually describe a Vectra as a Fanny Magnet ?

Oh dear, deluded or what , would the fanny be attached to a blind elderly lady by any chance ?

I had a vrs! :) Had a focus ST too, '08 plate which was ace to drive/hammer lol. Have got a Megane Sport now, 265bhp, I also had an '08 zx6r stock bhp 110 which got stolen last week :'( The kawi had a power-to-weight ratio and therefore acceleration comparable to a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 - 521 bhp or maybe a Ferrari Enzo

and why? I am a thrill seeker, who likes to accelerate rapidly - because it feels very very nice :p

BMW M3 convertible. Love this car.

Perhaps the most fun I have had in a car possibly ever! (and this includes some of the supercars I've been fortunate enough to drive round a track in).

Back in the day a Focus ST.
