Well done Kei. As much as I'm a Novak fan I'm glad to see Kei win here. Its a fantastic result for tennis to see different players come through. I'm not to sure now if I want Roger to win as it would be so emotional to see Kei win the whole thing. I might support him who knows. I'll decide Mon.

Assuming fed makes it through his match....Could be another surprise.

Of course, but at this point it's the case :)

Really, great result, but I thought it was quite an ordinary match.

Anyway well done Kei, hope you can win it now.

I found it tense & quite exciting. Doesn't take much :D
I am a Novak fan but fair okay he was (pun) outplayed.

Really hoping Cilic makes it through now for a refreshingly new final.

Obviously I'm gutted for Nole :( BUT he has already won Wimbledon this year and made it back to being the world number one. I wasn't expecting him to win this years Us Open what with all the emotional rollercoasters in his life at the moment, it would be hard to fully focus on tennis with everything that is happening personally for him. He will clearly have many more chances to win a slam so its not that much of a big deal imo.

Roger of course doesn't have as many chances to make even more history so I REALLY REALLY want to see him win the US Open and get another slam in the bag. I have everything crossed for him to go all the way. :D

Sad for Novak but he just wasn't good enough today and it's a great opportunity for Kei. Plus, it means if Roger gets to the final, his chances of 18 are much better :

He better not loses to Cilic!

Surely Federer's to lose now. He's desperate for another major, this result must add to the motivation.

And it mightn't even be that close

Seriously? Roger's best now is still better than Kei's best

Nishikori was already a megastar in Japan before this tournament, imagine what it's like now ^_^

Not at all - take nothing for granted. On paper Djokovic was to win this in three straight sets, there is still room for Federer to lose - whoever plays in the final it's for sure going to be exciting to watch and see who the better player is on the day.

I agree, all year Fed has proven to be better than Kei, in most Tournaments.

Where does this move Kei in the rankings in both scenarios.

Of course Kei could beat him, but Roger at his best would win. That's what I meant :)

He's up to #8 now. #5 if he wins the title.

For the record, the last Grand Slam final without one of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray in it was Safin-Hewitt at the 2005 Australian.

So pleased for Kei. I hope he plays Roger in the final so I can be happy for either winner. Kei winning would be massive for the sport though!

Also congratulations to Martina Navratilova who announced that she is engaged.

How crazy is that?!! :o just goes to show how consistent those 4 players have been for so long! I'd love Cilic to get through to see another player win a GS title :D
