Yes, the daughter of George IV. Protocol says that only previous names are used.

My dad told me there was a Queen Charlotte.

I personally dislike the name Charlotte, but it honours Prince Charles, along with Elizabeth for The Queen and Diana for William's mum, so it all goes together well. A good choice.

Lots of names there for the tabloids to shorten, regardless of whether or not she chooses to do so herself.

Disappointed that my choice of Princess Carol Camilla Pippa Ferguson was rejected out of hand.

Absolutely perfect. I said Charlotte Elizabeth yesterday just wasn't sure if they would go with Diana as a middle name or not.

And it was my mother's middle name. It would have been nice.

Charlotte is Pippa's middle name. And Elizabeth is Kate's middle name.

I was hoping for Eanflæd or Ælfthryth. Good old-fashioned names.

    Why "Elizabeth"?

So the kid's named after her paternal grandmother and great-grandmother but nothing as notable from her maternal side?

Seems like, if they were going to go with family names, it should have been "Charlotte Diana Carole" or something.

Maybe they thought that the Queen would accept Diana more readily if her name was there too.
