Another irrelevant party is born. Facism and Racism have no place in Britain. Just give it up already

Parties of the extreme Left tend to split over miniscule matters of dogma.

Parties of the extreme Right split because they all want to be the Fuhrer..........and it's easier too form a new party and be Fuhrer of that rather than contest the leadership of an existing party

Well it was bound to happen as Griffin has been living a life of luxury and telling his party members to sell scrap metal and eat road kill....

It's terrible that a graduate from one of the nation's most hallowed institutions has to eat road kill.

The BNP really seemed to have crashed and burnt. Quite a contrast to Marine Le Pen's lot in France.

I'm not likely to be joining any time soon, but there is certainly a market for a party of this type that is NOT run by crooks, thugs, ignoramuses and psycopaths.

They prosper in most European countries. Our electoral system is a big disadvantage for any minority party, but if a nationalist party that found a charismatic, media friendly, eloquent leader, many of the arrogant, complacent liberals would be spitting our their skinny lattes all over the keyboard.

The electoral system is so undemocratic. It is designed to shut out smaller parties that then cannot grow as they get no representation in Westminster to them.Only when we get some real 21 st century democracy will small parties be able to represent people in our parliament. :(
Luckily UKIP dont have this problem as their poll ratings show.:D

That was partly because it became linked to the union movement / a historical anomaly.

I think that the reason that political parties grow is because people like their ideas and are drawn to them over time. This is why the Communists and the BNP will never attract enough people to them.

The polls show they are an irrelevance as they will remain.

Can I have some of what you are on, please?

UKIP will suffer under FPTP like every other small party. They don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning a solitary seat at the GE. I do, of course, agree with you that our electoral system is a disgrace, and that UKIP should get it's rightful representation in Parliament. Along with Greens and assorted other nutters, so long as they reach the threshold.

Because it became a mass movement, and the Whigs virtually vanished.

FPTP ensures there will be no such blossoming of new parties and new ideas. It preserves the status quo in aspic, grotesquely distorts the wish of the electorate, and is skewed to both Labour and Conservative parties.

It is very largely responsible for many of our contemporary problems.

For clarity, are UKIP nutters too, or just Greens and assorted other nutters?
