Cheryl has not yet been proved right

Cheryl (and SImon) have suggested that the fact her acts have got so far in the competition proves she was right to put them through. This argument is flawed for so many reasons... The reasons the girls she picked lasted so long in the competition are because Simon always saved them in the sing off, the rules were changed at the eleventh hour and praise has been heaped upon them from all quarters.

The bottom line is unless Cheryl wins the competition she cannot claim to have put the right people through. Gamu's popularity and talent was such that she would have stood a very good chance of winning without all the underhand tactics.

    Agreed.

When someone questioned her mentoring abilities a couple of weeks back she defended herself by saying she still had three acts in the competition. I think at this point she'd had an act in the bottom two 8 times out of 10 (or something like that) which Would indicate she didn't put the right acts through.

She hasn't proved anything. Katie and Cher have only got as far as they did because they were kept in the show by the judges. They are only still there because the show has been highly manipulated and fixed to keep them in.

It's actually 9 out of 10. With the exception of the week when Simon had to choose between his two acts, Cheryl has had someone in the bottom two every week.

She is just so sure of herself. Everyone gets things wrong sometimes and if Cheryl had shown the smallest amount of humility when she realised how disappointed the public were in her I think she wouldn't have faced such a backlash; instead she has been so smug...

Wow! i didn't even realise it was that many
    that's some bad picking there
i doubt cher or katie ever had a big following - we'll see when the votes come out

Cher wasn't in the bottom 3 in the week before the semi final, when Wagner and Katie went and Mary had to sing for survival. Which shows she has a fairly big fanbase, Not as big as some contestants but popular enough for Cheryl to have put her through.

It makes me wonder if Cheryl's acts are paying for Cheryl's backlash with the press. They didn't stand a chance the minute Cheryl put them through and not Gamu, even though I think Will and she made the right decision.

I think the backlash against Cheryl for not putting Gamu through has had an impact against the weaker acts but the genuinely talented Rebecca still gets supported...

Actually it's eight out of nine, but because TreyC & Katie were up against each other, she's still had an act in the bottom 2/3 nine times now. (as opposed to Dannii, who had acts in the bottom 2/3 three times, and lost them each time.)

Actually it was the week before the quarter finals. The same point that Paije was in the bottom 2 for the first time. People on here kept going on about Paije not having much support even though he got as far as he did.

It's absolutely ridiculus, how the hell does she have 2 acts in the final with these stats:mad:

And 3 acts up until week 8. It's such a farce.

The same could be said for Simon's and Danni's acts.

With Matt running to the press and bad mouthing other finalists it's obvious there manipulating people with his humble " good boy" image.

All of the acts have the usual PR stories though and have done since it began.

Although there has been some favouritism towards Matt & 1D, I don't think you can say the same for the rest of Simon's & Dannii's acts this year - with the exception of Belle Amie (who went out against one of Cheryl's), all of them went out the first time they were in the singoff, & several were arguably stitched up horrendously by the producers.

Not really because Simon or Dannii's or Louis' acts were not kept in week after week by the judges's despite being in the bottom 2 over and over again (Katie). So her getting the quarter finals was as a result of the judges keeping her in, not because she was doing well enough with the public to make it that far.

Plus, although this is not a fact, a lot of people believe that the rules were changed this week to keep Cher in (i.e having a sing off). Not to mention the fact that she could have gone out 2 weeks ago if Louis had been allowed to take it to deadlock when she was in the sing-off with Paije.

Do people really think that each judge picks which acts they want to go through to the live shows?

The overs this year weren't really ever going to go far apart from Mary.

Putting things in perspective then everyone could have guessed the top three would be 1D, Matt and Rebecca so it means the bottom two would be the other acts who made it that far.

Cher and Mary have only been bottom 2 since the other finalists got voted off so they could have polled close along.

As the finalists gett thinned out then it's obvious that some of them aren't as popular as people think :)

Cheryl's arguent would only be valid if all her acts had survived in the competition without being in the bottom two. TreyC was there twice (?), as was Cher, and Katie four times The only one who has managed to get through without hitting the bottom two at all is Rebecca. If she wins, the only thing Cheryl can claim is that she was right to give Rebecca a place in her 'final four'. Her decision re: the other three girls would still be viewed as questionable.
