Im a massive clinique fan. Their translucent face powder is a product i cant live without.

I also love rimel cover sticks, and wont buy anything else.

I love benefit makeup too, and their eye liner pencils and mascara is to die for.

As for worst ... im not sure. Im not keen on M&S makeup which i think smudges and is never the colour you think it is.

I dont buy L'Oreal eye cream either. I once bought an eye gel, applied it that evening - and woke up to find all the skin around my eyes had burnt off !!!

I love Bourjois,Clinique and Boots' Natural Collection.
I'm not much of a fan of Collection 2000 or 17 by Boots.

Miss Sporty is a terrible brand. Old fashioned packaging, cheap and poor quality.

I love the bourjois blush, it lasts ages! I always use the collection 2000 liquid eyeliner which stays on all day. And Barry M dazzle dusts, wear the bronze one everyday!
I'm still looking for a good foundation, i am using the new Loreal Matte morphose (I think its called) at the mo and im not too impressed!

I shop on QVC as well and love the range by Laura Geller. It is the only powder that gives coverage like a foundation that is light enough in colour for my skin.

I love the baked range and have a lot of things from it.

I do swear by the concealer from Aldi that is basically the same as the YSL Touche Eclat.

I currently use a Boots No 7 mascara.

For nails it has to be Leighton Denny. I did try some Nails Inc ones from WVC but didn't like the coverage or colours so they got sent back. I have about 30 Leighton Denny colours and love all their treatment products as well. I certainly take better care of my nails now then i ever use to.

Worst brand would definitely be anything cheap and over the top glitter. Natural Collections as Boots, Rimmel.

Jesus, my toes curl up at the thought of just what "Embryolisse creme" contains

And how much do you spend (squander?) on cosmetics?

    Hah!

I don't spend that much actually.. my friend is a professional make-up artist, so most of those recommendations came from them :)

    Best:
Chanel, MAC, ELF, NARS, Max Factor false lash effect, Stila tinted moisturiser (on cheapsmells it is £4 ish vs £16 retail!), Loreal studio primer

    Worst:
Miss Sporty, Natural collection, 17, generally anything with poor pigmentation

Benefit stuff LOOKS good but some of the products are mega rubbish...i like a couple of their things but you could probably buy the same thing by a cheaper range that did the same thing!i only bought their stuff as i won a £500 voucher for Selfridges a while ago...their staff also put me off as they ignored me for ages...if Soap and Glory brought out make-up they would be onto a winner as they do similar 1950's boudoir packaging....

I also love Mac stuff, their stuff is really high quality and the staff are super friendly and don't mind trying out products on you, their high pigment eyeshadows last all night

I'm also guilty of being lured in by the lovely Benefit packaging, looks gorgeous but the make up itself isn't really anything amazing.

I haven't had much of an opportunity to try out some of the pricier brands such as MAC, Chanel etc. as they are out of my price range at the moment, but I do like Bourjois (great mascara), Body Shop cosmetics, Max Factor and No.7.

Rimmel have a few nice things but the quality can be a bit dubious at times. Not a fan of Maybelline mascara either, I've found it quite clumpy in the past.

I've found that at the MAC shop at the back of Carnaby St, but try going to the MAC counter down the road at Selfridges, where the staff a soooo rude.

    Good :)

    Foundation: Mac/ Urban Decay mineral
    Concealer: Max Factor/Bourjois
Mascara: The Body Shop. One of the very few that doesn't clump.
    Eyeshadow: Urban Decay/The Body Shop
Eye Liner Urban Decay/The Body Shop

    Bad: :(

    Rimmel
Constance Carroll which is now I believe Collection 2000
    Clinique - burns my skin
Estee Lauder mascara - so bad I chucked it.
    Revlon mascara - as above.

    The best brands I've tried:
    Clinique
    NARS
    Lily Lolo
    Bourjois
MAC (but only for eye products; not had much luck with lipsticks or foundations, but love eyeshadows and eyeliners)

    Worst:
L'oreal (I've always been completely underwhelmed by their cosmetics and skincare, but think their hairdyes are excellent)
All of Boots' own brands (even No. 7, which just seems so overpriced to me!)

My favourite makeup brand is definitely Clinique - I have their Almost Makeup and their mascara. By far the best foundation type thing and mascara I've every had. Also love my Rimmel matte bronzer and blush.

Can't stand Miss Sporty, 17 etc. I've bought cheap nail varnish from them though because I don't wear it often, only occasionally for nights out so doesn't matter if it chips.

The staff in the Covent Garden one are lovely.

And the NARS staff in Selfridges are amazzing. Nothing perks me up quicker than a sexy French man telling me I'm pretty. I know they're being paid to say that, but I don't care :p

Discounting really cheap brands such as Rimmel, where to be fair you get what you pay for, I find Clarins the most disappointing make-up. Not great foundation, mascara slides off, lip gloss ditto. Meh. Oh except they do a good primer.

Christian Dior is probably the best all rounder. Chanel do great eye shadows & blushers but I'm not mad about their foundation - bit yellowy.

YSL do my favourite lip glosses by miles. But I don't like their False Lash Effect mascara. And I prefer CD's version of Touche Eclat called Skinflash.

I have been using Miss Sporty's mascara for a while because I like the thick brush that gives good coverage. I know its cheap but at the minute can not seem to find a mascara with a better brush, anyone recommend one. I dont like a too liquid mascara either.

MAC is my favourite make up brand by a mile. I love their foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipgloss and blusher. Their make up brushes are really good too. The only thing I've found not up to their usual standard is their mascara- it's not bad just not amazing. I like Dior and Lancome for mascara and Urban Decay is great for glittery eyeliners.

    Worst:
Rimmel- their eyeliner is pathetic. I didn't realise just how bad it was until I started using MAC.
No 7- I love their make up remover wipes, but I don't like the actual make up. The nail varnish goes weird really quickly and the lipgloss stays on for about 5 minutes.

I still can't work out if it's worth splashing out on expensive cosmetics or not...i do by expensive skincare but cosmetics i haven't noticed much difference when i've bough dior compared with boots no 7.
