Humax pvr9200t freezing since Summer time was updated
I have had this piece of excellent kit since last October. Havent used it for a few days until today. I switched it on at tea time and it said that it would update the time.
Twice tonight its crashed, once whilst Eastenders was one and another just as ten oclock news came on, the picture just frooze and had to reset at back of box.
Anyone has similar problem?
Thanks

mine is sulking tonight - very similar, some problem suring recording of eastenders on bbc1, set it to record on bbc3 10pm, but it didn't record.
Now I can only seem to get one thing recording at a time- has one of the tuners died???
Help!
I suppose its possible. Try doing an instant record on two different channels that are on seporate MUXs or PIP. If it wont let you try turning off all recordings and switching to standby. Then power off from the back for 5 minutes and power back on. Try the above again. I dont know how to check if a tuner is faulty other than this.
Sound reasonable?
hmmm, tried this - standby, off at back, waited over 5 mins, all back on, PIP works fine, but having pressed record, changed channels, it won't record a second channel, and on timer it starts the first one recording, but when the second is due to start the box obviously thinks about something, the program due to record just goes black and no sound, and it doesn't record.
what has happened????
any advice? I have too much stuff on the hard drive to take it back, and no easy way of getting it off quickly. Also it has revolutioned my life, I couldn't be without it
Then this evening it was supposed to record Andromeda on BBC 4, and started the recording but crashed at 21:59.
The part recording is on the list of programs and plays back OK, at least for the first 20 minutes which is all I've seen so far.
Very frustrating and you can imagine the comments from the rest of the family, mainly mentioning that the Panasonic VCR gathering dust in the corner always manged to record something, never locked up, etc, etc.....
ok, done this, and I now appear to have two working tuners..... and NOTHING in my recorded programs!!!!!!!!!!
(I am completed P*$*ed off that I have lost everything) - BUT, in the hard drive control it tells me my hard drive is nearly full - SO WHERE ARE MY RECORDINGS????????????
I'm getting onto humax RIGHT NOW
Good job Andromeda is being repeated a couple more times.
Mine crashed at excatly the same time and recording the same program. The odd thing is that it started recording at 8:30pm, which it was not set for. The schedule was setup to only record Andromeda
Sounds like you have the lost recording bug. I think that all your recordings are lost because the HD file table has been corrupted, AFAIK the only remedy is a format of the drive to recover the space. Nothing can be done to recover the recordings.
yes, i fear you are correct, I'm SO angry that I didn't back up onto VCR - I'd done the really important stuff, but still had about 20 hours of stuff i wanted to watch and keep parts of. And I bought a load of tapes at the weekend.
Form now on EVERYTHING gets downloaded onto VCR immediately.
VERY annoyed that the manual in incorrect, it says very clearly that it deletes the channel list etc but that no information on the hard drive will be lost.
Off to email humax.

It depend what type of file allocation table method is being used. In general with the right tools you can recover all or some of the data.
With the PC FAT tables two tables are kept if one becomes corrupt you can still recover the data using the other FAT table. If you loose both you can still recover most of the data provided you did not write any more data to disk but this is a sppecialised task to recover it and some data my be lost
I suspect your disk was already corrupted before you tried resetting the box, so you were going to lose your recordings sooner or later anyway. It is just bad luck that resetting to defaults is the thing that tipped it over the edge in your case.
Incidentaly, Humax's standard response to people who lose their recordings is to ask them to reset to factory defaults. (I don't know of a single case where this has worked.) I wonder if they'll suggest the same to you...
Like the last things some others have done in the past before loosing their recordings table like deleting some recordings, reaching 80% disk capacity, trying to put a file on to the D2 partition via elinker etc etc, its not replicable and something one person says causes it doesnt apply to another who didnt do any of the same things at any time in the past prior to their falling foul to this. Its not something you can ask someone to replicate and it just happens unfortunely - or fortunely!
Fair points. I just wish I'd backed up the stuff on there earlier - but as ever its down to time. I also wish I'd read the lost all recordings thread before, maybe I wouldn't have been so quick to do a reset.
Hey ho, worse things happen, and I do still love the principles of this machine!!!
Marcdavis, is it true that humax are no longer working on a recovery tool?
Hi tvaddict37 see post 166 on the lost recordings thread which is the last I've got on this.
I also have a Humax 17"idtv and that has been locking up as well
To be fair that has locked up quite frequently since I've had it and I don't think its been more frequent this week
Ditto Flemmo.
I had not had one lock up since purchasing my Humax. Since the clocks went back my box has locked at about 10am every day.
Of course I meant 'back' to BST
