    Ah sorry. I lived in the US for 10 years and they do it all the time there. Its only fairly recently they have started to do it here. For example on 5 live if the interview a politician the next news segment will quote "this programme" as the source.

    Remember the days when we said "at the moment" instead of "right now"?

    i've noticed panorama programmes are treated like news items on the day they are broadcast.. but it's just a plug.. a bit like george osborne's post election interview.. ;)

    it's about interviews given to tv programmes that then get repeated ad nauseum on the main news..

    the example given here is george osborne's interview to a programme..

    Imagine you had your own radio show called The StargateNerd phone in & you had just been talking to George Osbourne.You break for the news & the newsreader says "George Osbourne said to this programme" instead of the newsreader saying "George Osbourne said to The StargateNerd phone in".
