Now this may sound like an odd comparison but bare with me!:p
These two albums are the most personal by both artists to date - and I judge this by both have writing credits on nearly all tracks - and both were forged when Britney and Rihanna had difficult personal lives. And more convinientaly, they're both Britney and Rihanna's fourth albums:D
The two of them are known for dance pop songs that could be deemed as 'generic' and 'forgettable' by some, but on ITZ and Rated R I think the two of them opened up quite a bit and made an album very personal to them that they both worked hard on and were proud of. Commercially, In The Zone sold 10 million worldwide (I think!) and Rated R sold 3 million (again, I think!) but this means nothing to how good they are but it's just another comparison!
But which one do you prefer?
I'm a bit unsure really as I love the dark side to Rihanna on Rated R but I loved seeing Britney as a songwriter on In The Zone and how diverse that album was with so many genres thrown in.
I think I'm gonna have to go for In The Zone!
Your thoughts?:p

It always baffles me why Fire Bomb was never released as a single
Toxic and Me Against The Music were defining moments in pop, and Everytime is more personal and impressive than any ballad Rihanna has ever done. Plus Britney wrote it (as much as Rihanna has credits on TT, I'm not entirely convinced she did much writing), so major props there.
I totally agree with the BIB. If I was going to listen to a whole album, I would rather listen to Rated R but Britney's singles from that album are amazing.
Songs like POM, GM and Freaksow related more to her situation than the songs on ITZ.
Here comes the showdown, wooaahhh!!
That's was a #1 in Australia
& touch of my hand I got that boom boom and outragous were dire as for the writing britney admitted in an interview the first proper song she wrote was everytime.
I suspect any credits with her name on it were litarly like one line or something.
