True, but if you are in a Symphonic Metal band looks with only get you so far. If you can barely hold a note live you'd soon be out of the band, as Metal doesn't do "auto-tune"..... ;-)

That doesn't matter, it's still part of the image of the music. You have to be a babe to be a singer in a symphonic metal group.
There are a few pretty boys in heavy rock:- Dave Coverdale, Dave Mustaine, Bruce Dickinson, the young Ozzy Osbourne and Ian Gillan, Axl Rose, James Hetfield in a certain light....

That would be in the OFF position
If a male metaller happens to be good looking it's purely incidental. with the women, it's a necessity.
Which could be said to be true of virtually every other genre of popular music as well, it isn't only something that can only be said of Symphonic Metal.
I doubt there are too many girls performing in any girl band in the last 30 years who got the job based solely on their singing voice.

Shame that 4 of the spice girls got it on neither, and Cheryl Cole - the less said the better

That's not really true there are lots of bands with female musicians who are there because they can play. For example, here's a list of great bands with male leads and female bassists...Pixies, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, The Dandy Warhols, Talking Heads, & My Bloody Valentine. Alt Rock ain't as sexist as symphonic metal, simple as that.

In exactly the same way that female Symphonic Metal vocalists are there because they can seriously sing, many of them are classically trained. Tarja Turunen is just as famous in her native Finland as an opera star in her own right as she is for her time with Nightwish.
As for Symphonic Metal being "sexist", I can't be bothered to waste my time on such nonsense.

How about:
Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation)
Charlotte Wessels (Delain)
Emily Alice Ovenden (Mediaeval Baebes & Pythia)
Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish)
Floor Jansen (Nightwish)
Manda Ophuis (Nemesea)
Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes)
Simone Simons (Epica)
Zuberoa Aznárez (Diabulus in Musica)
There are many, many, more!!!
But then Metal and Symphonic Metal in particular is very image conscious music!:D
Cindy Wilson (B52s)
Only as far as the women are concerned.
Most male metallers are right ugly buggers
I met Lynsey de Paul at YTV when she was recording an episode of Sez Les with Les Dawson. She was tiny and drop dead gorgeous.

Did I say otherwise?

But I bet he pulled the birds anyway .
I'm not disagreeing.
Metal has always had an image component as well as the musicianship, Symphonic Metal is no exception.
And I'll repeat....only the women.

Find me a female version of this guy & I'll give you a biscuit

No, that was Ray and/or Dave Davies of The Kinks. Or maybe Tommi Iommi of Sabbath.
Or possibly his brother, Tony
How did that come out as Tommi? lol
Brain fart?
No. It was Niccolo Paganini.
