that not far away the 20 clubs for next season, Sunday we say bye to one club to the football league thread and Monday we say hi to either Middlesbrough or Norwich to join AFC Bourthmouth and Watford.
First of all welcome to the thread, and congulations on your team AFC Bournemouth getting into the Premier League. This is a very good thread to follow, the quality and quantity of posts is usually high, and your certainly get more in depth analysis than anywhere else I can think of.
I think that certain newspapers might be reading this thread over the season! They certainly quickly corrected themselves after the 2013-2014 first batch of TV fixtures were realised when it was said by the Daily Mail that Sky had used all of their 20 first picks immediately in the first 20 fixtures. Of course all of the first 20 sets of fixtures for TV had not being selected at that point, it was impossible because some of the first 20 sets of fixtures had midweeks in them which would automatically be BTs first pick, and besides that it would simply lack common sense of Sky to let BT have all first picks as the run in to the season would be shown on BT!
It was immediately picked up and commented on in this thread and soon enough there had being a correction on the Daily Mail (no doubt Sky might have had a word with them as well.) Sporting Intelligence once published mlt11's own figures of the estimated cost for each package that was bid.
Even if your team get relegated to the championship (or even league 1 in successive years!) it is still a good thread to follow and I always enjoy the fixtures for TV being realised just to see reactions from posters afterwards. It seems almost unfair for me to pick out individual posters, but I will pick out mlt11, TLG86 and also Igloo_man.
As for your specific questions, Sky are likely to show you at least 6 times in a season. They have a minimum of 4 times to show you, but always like to show each club more than the minimum number of times that they have to. BTs minimum is 1, and it maybe that you are indeed only shown once on BT.
That would mean you are likely to be shown at least 7 times during the season. The maximum is 28 (21 on Sky, 7 on BT.) The minimum is 5 (not 7) and that is 4 times on Sky and 1 on BT. I hope you enjoy the season, and I also hope you enjoy the thread.
Thanks for the kind reply, that's probably the first polite interaction I've had from a Wolves fan. Due no doubt to the ill tempered game at Molineux.
If/when we return to the Championship/League One/League Two my interest in the Premier League will return to its previous low level, but hope to try and grasp an understanding the mechanics of the TV selections so I can be best placed to organise potential away trips.
I do find it humorous that we could end up with less TV games in the Premier League than we did in the Championship.
Hi Fletch10, wolvesdavid has given an excellent summary of what you can expect. As a match going fan we're generally treated better than supporters in the Championship. It can get a bit messy in the last few weeks of the season when fixtures can move due to the Champions League.
One thing that might interest you is that the PL fixture computer has a happy knack of drawing a newly promoted team against a 'big' team in Week 1 of the season. Here are some fixtures from the opening weekend going back to 2001-02:
2014-15: Burnley v Chelsea
2013-14: Chelsea v Hull and Crystal Palace v Spurs
2012-13: Man City v Southampton
2011-12: Man City v Swansea
2010-11: Chelsea v West Brom
2009-10: Man Utd v Birmingham
2008-09: Arsenal v West Brom
2007-08: Sunderland v Spurs and Chelsea v Birmingham
2006-07: Sheff Utd v Liverpool
2005-06: Wigan v Chelsea
2004-05:
2003-04:
2002-03: Man Utd v West Brom (not on TV) and Arsenal v Birmingham
2001-02: Man Utd v Fulham
I'm not sure why it didn't happen in 03-04 and 04-05 but it certainly seems to have become a regular occurance since then. Sky also like to show the newly promoted teams early on, so in 2014-15 they showed Burnley v Chelsea in Week 1, Leicester v Arsenal in Week 3 and Man Utd v QPR in Week4. I wouldn't be at all surprised, therefore, to see Bournemouth live on Sky in the first few weeks of the season. It's also worth noting that Sky like to be able to make big statements. So last season Sky showed Arsenal v Palace on the opening day instead of West Ham v Spurs (a better game, in my opinion) so that they could say "last season's Top 4 all live on Sky on the opening weekend". Similarly they showed each team three times in the first 13 weeks of the season and made a big thing of it.
As a more general point on the process, as wolvesdavid said, we assume that the package with the most of a certain pick controls when to use it. From watching the picks play out over the last couple of seasons we also think that the picks are declared for a block of fixtures. So for the first 13 weeks of the season Sky will declare which weeks they'll be taking first pick in. What's happened in the last two seasons (we think) is that BT have used a first pick to show an average Man Utd fixture (Palace at home in 13-14 and Burnley away in 14-15) as they thought it important to show at least one Man Utd game in the first few weeks of the season. With BT having the Champions League this season, it will be interesting to see if BT are quite so desparate to show Man Utd at the expense of a better looking fixture.
10 seconds on Google did it for me. Maybe that might help you in your quest.
Over the years I've noticed that fixtures don't change much from season to season with the obvious exception of promoted teams replacing relegated teams and any jiggery-pokery that needs doing to make sure that the new fixture doesn't cause clashes of the type that the police, tv & other interested parties wish to avoid. It's not a hard & fast rule and certainly nothing to base travel plans on, but unless the FA change the way they do things this season and start from scratch, last season's fixture list is a useful start point.
Of all the comments on this thread, that's the one that needs a source?!
It's no great shock, that kid regularly starts threads asking for names, timings etc of specific types of programmes on specific channels etc when if they actually made an effort themselves, they'd be able to find out themselves, but to put it bluntly, they're nothing but a lazy waste of space (and that's being kind).
Please jazzydrury3 please can you tell me where you got that date from please
Here you go. (Yes, I am aware that's the Football League's Twitter feed, but the Premier League's fixtures are released at the same time (9am, I believe).)

We think (although we do not know for certain) that whichever package has the most picks for that number pick has control of the picks.
Thanks for that.

Liverpool or Southampton will be depending on who will the cup, also West Ham if they are still in Europa league qualifying at this point.
How do you know that?
I fully expect the 2016/17 thread to be started around January...
The above posted fixture list isn't true. Ignore it.
Really? I'd never have guessed ;-)
11 united beat newcastle
12 city beat Swansea
13 united lost at Everton
14 city beat newcastle
15 Chelsea beat Burnley
What gave it away?
Source please

What on earth do you mean?
Its pretty obvious the plans, just like what they have been for the past 2 seasons.
BT will get the opening game of the season at 12.45 Sat
Then Sky will get 1.30 sunday and 4.00 Sun and probably 8.00 Mon.
Its as simple as that......gee!!!
