Hopefully it may be possible with a firmware upgrade they might be able to output video through the bottom port or that unused port on the top. Although like the PSP it may look like crap on a big screen.
The Vita not having video output is one of the reason I've little interest in getting one despite there been a few games I would be interested in owning.
My eyesight is pretty bad, Especially when it comes to focusing on smaller details (Such as looking for small or hidden things on Uncharted or looking ahead on a driving game) & I always struggle to play games on a smaller screen.
Always played the PSP by hooking it upto my TV & while the quality wasn't great, It was more playable for me than on the small screen.

If the current unit only needs a firmware upgrade, then I'd buy one now with a view to using that later on.

...I also hooked my PSP up to the TV and that was fine also. I used the video output mainly for recording gaming footage for uploading to Youtube to go with my reviews.

Aye, I'm just ever hopeful. Video footage I've seen of Vita games ends up looking crap as a result.
Also, I was hoping it would come as it was nearly a year on from the first model and technology usually gets rebranded once a year.
That was because the PSP ran at a terrible 480 × 272 which wasn't even close to SD (480 to 576 lines)
The Vita on the other hand runs at 960 × 544 so it shouldn't look to bad.

PS Vita uses 1/4 full HD, as I read originally, so that'd look good, although...
