For those who don't remember him as Catweazle he also played The Crowman in Worzel Gummidge.

I've seen him in both but, for me, I remember him more as The Crowman.

I associate the other guy, who was a wrestler, more with Catweazle.

I have seen him via repeats & DVDs in Please Sir & Special Branch in guest roles.

(Might have been in Public Eye too. Have to take a look at my DVDs.)

In advanced years though he is now, that means he was still in his forties when he played Catweazle. How old does that make me feel, as a sprightly 53-year-old? :o

    Touchwood was a toad! :D

I suppose coming from just after the Norman Invasion, he'd be about 950:)

I recall one episode where a naturalist got hold of Touchwood and got very excited as it turns out he was a member of an extinct species. Strange the details you recall 45 years on - anyway I must use some electricky to put the sun in a bottle so I can eat my bananas.

Me too, although I did sometimes find him a bit scary!

I wonder why it never gets shown these days?

Fabulous that Geoffrey Bayldon's still with us at an impressive 91! Bravo to him and Happy Birthday!

Apparently he was actually in the running to be the 1st Doctor and his name was also mentioned when they were looking for the 2nd Doctor.

He did end up playing an alternate version of the 1st Doctor for Big Finish
