Finishing paying off your car....

I've just finished paying off my car. I've had a letter from the finance company confirming that it is paid off and thanking me for my business etc.
So is that it?
Or is there anything else I need before, say, selling the car on to someone else?

    That is enough to confirm your unencumbered title to the car and its yours to sell. You could run an HPI check (shop around for the best price) to make sure it will appear so to a prospective buyer, personally I wouldn't bother.

    It's funny how many 'car finance' packages effectively no longer exist.. there seems to have been a wholesale leap to leasing, without them changing the advertising or pricing.. except for a tiny bit of small-print saying "YOU WILL NOT OWN THE CAR"...
