Trying to get through paperwork as well as xmas shopping, housework, ironing, dog walking etc, Dont know yet how many I am catering for at xmas.

I think the xmas special might be more interesting than the show itself. At least they seem to have a lot of i interesting celebs.

Car has just gone in for MOT and service so more expense just before xmas.

We have snow. Not much and it was very wet snow, it cleared easily of car windows. The garage come and take the car and bring it back so that makes it easier for me.

Weather forecast not too bad for Friday for getting to my dance lesson.

This fusion thing could well be a shambles I think

will watch ITT later on iplayer as OH wants to watch the local news at this time every night.

Car went in for MOT and service today, it failed MOT for two front tyres as they are just below legal apparently though they looked ok to me. Biggest thing is that it needs a new catalytic converter. ouch! £600 just for that.
I was offered cheap tyres and a cheap substitute of the catalytic thingy but you get what you pay for, not worth having cheap substitues.

Will be interested to see how the fusione thing is going in practice, sounds complicated to me.

Not impressed with ITT from last night.
Lisa filling the screen and being as loud as Zoe. Watched the training clips and wonder how this fusion thing is really going to work.

Who will go off this week? Lisa? Nickty? or Denise? I guess Danni and Louis and Kimberly might be safe As much as Lisa irritates me I think Denise is worse..

Hi elizabeth, that seems a pretty exorbitant price to fit a catalytic converter. Its quite a straight forward job for any competent mechanic. What make of car is it?
Here is a guide to what others have paid .

    http://www.whatprice.co.uk/prices/car/catalytic-converter.html

Its always best to phone around a few garages to get an idea of cost and compare charges before deciding.

I guess we were overchatged then the car is Golf 1.9 TDI Diesel. We were offered the genuine vw part which was £600 or a substitute one for 250. The mechanic left it to me to choose so I had to say the genuine part as my husband wasnt around to ask. The car was in for MOT and service at the place we always use. We needed two front tyres as well and again we were offered Goodyear or Budget. I know my husband wouldnt buy budget tyres so I got the Goodyear ones which were £65 each.

Just asked OH what he would have done if he had been there and he said it was a tough call. He doesnt know anything about catalytic converters except that they are filled with platinum. He thought the cheaper ones would have less platinum in them but as he hasnt got a lot of knowledge of them he would have donr what I did. He knows genuine vw parts are covered by warranty.

The garage is the one we always go to they are VW specialists, not main dealers. They have always been straight with us and they collect and deliver the car which helps me out. OH said I was right about the tyres as well with winter coming on good tyres are preferable.

Just noticed Darcy is on the One show right now.
Oh wanted to watch extreme railways so he has got his wish.

Just got car back and I asked a lot of questions and decided that I had done the right thing getting genuine parts and decent tyres.
Apparently catalystic thing hadnt failed it had corroded. Because I do so few miles he advised trying to give it a run to get the exhaust hot now and again to stop it corroding. Most people seem to change their cars every couple of years so wouldnt want to spend a lot of money on the exhaust system. My car is 10 years old and this is the first time for the exhaust having failed. Also I dont intend to get rid of it anytime soon.

If you are happy with their service that is all that matters but I hope you don't mind me saying I don't understand their pricing .
I looked on the internet and a Volkswagen Catalytic Converter for your make of car at the most expensive should cost no more then £200.
A competent Volkswagen mechanic should be able to replace the CC in approx 30min . I don't know how much they charge per hour for labour, even if they charge £100-£150 an hour, I would make the total approx £350 max.
Anyway I'll leave it there elizabeth and say, happy motoring :)

This latest medal exam is possibly the most difficult so far. It is the last latin exam Gold Bar and is really difficult. Jive, Samba and Paso are all really fast and the Rumba is slower but the hardest footwork possibly.
We have been doing them without music until today when we had the music so it showed up where there were problems.
Not intending to do the exam until June, the school has just had a medal exam weekend but I was far from ready so I postponed mine.

When I have done the Latin I will go back to the ballroom. and do the advanced ballroom which I am really looking forward to.

No soulmate I dont. I wear practice shoes with a cuban heel. When I do wear dance shoes they dont have high heels, I would never be able to manage in them. 2 inches maximum/

I would have rather have had Lisa in the bottom two against Denise then Lisa would have gone.
It would have been so interesting to see how the judges dealt with that as they obviously have directions from the producers about both of them.
Nicky turned out to be the fall guy there.

Blackpool contestants who last 7 rounds to reach the Final have danced 28 ballroom dances or 33 latin dances. It is in the Final round that they unveil the most moving, exhilarating, spellbinding performances.

God knows how young women wearing 3-inch heels survive, or if the ordeal leaves a mark longterm. The Festival physio room received 300 cases over 9 days -- for a fee of £60 a time I understand.

Beauty comes at a cost -- disproportionately borne by brave women. ;)

I am afraid that I could never wear high heels. I guess it is becuse I never have even when not dancing so never got used to them.
Much better for me to stay with what I can manage safely and feel comfortable in.

I think most of the top Latin girls must wear slightly more than a 3 inch heel, from the look of it. But then again, they are all sponsored so I think they can pretty much ask for any style, in any colour, with any type of heel and get hold of it without trouble.

    Hi * Becca * how was Paris? I am jealous :D .

Is there a height difference between latin and ballroom heels?

It generally varies, greatly depending on personal preference and on the height difference between partners. I personally think that you can get away with wearing a smaller heel in Ballroom - for example, Polina Shyklaeva who is the current British Amateur Ballroom Champion wears a tiny heel, and it doesn't look all that wrong. But a 2 inch heel on the floor in Latin does look a bit odd when you see it. By the same token, a 3.5 inch heel would probably look pretty random in Ballroom, too!

Paris was fabulous - a very enjoyable competition in all categories, although not the best turnout I have ever seen there, a lot of 'regular' couples noticably missing. A very nice atmosphere, lot of support for the couples, excellent shows last night, and very nice to have a brand new World Amateur Latin Champion!

    Thanks. Well done Roselina.
Top two in Paris Amateur Latin are rated 1845, top two in Professional Rising Stars only 1809 and 1750. Amateurs are formidable. :)
Top English couple placed only 43rd. :o

    Paris Amateur Latin Championship
1 Troels Bager & Ina Jeliazkova (Denmark)
2 Kirill Belorukov & Elvira Skyrlinokova (Russia)
3 Ferdinando Iannaccone & Yulia Muskhina (Italy)
4 Morten Lowe & Roselina Doneva (Denmark)
5 Mirco Risi & Maria Ermachkova (Italy)
6 Marek Fiksa & kinga Jurecka (Poland)

The results were very unpredictable! It really could have gone any way, pretty much throughout all of the final. Some obvious disappointments, but that's the nature of the beast. Literally only a minute before the results were announced, Roxy said to me, 'As long as we keep on improving, that's the main thing.' UK will be very interesting!
