Best Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit?

My mum has decided to switch to electronic cigarettes for the health, cost and convenience benefits. However, there seem to be a lot of companies offering them now and it isn't entirely clear which one is the best. Of course, cost is a factor too but don't want to end up buying something so cheap it doesn't do what it should.

We have had VIP Cigarettes recommended and I saw this starter kit which looks good at £25 http://www.vipelectroniccigarette.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=119{1}9 but I also saw a rather mixed review of a VIP starter kit here: http://www.ecigclick.co.uk/vip-electronic-cigarette-review/

Is this a good deal or is there another starter kit that would be better for someone who is moving from smoking to electronic cigarettes?

Think this what a guy on one of the other threads went for. The Visions (the top bit which delivers the juice) are excellent for newbs - really low maintenance, easy to fill. An Ego battery will last around 8 hours before it needs a recharge.

You'll also need more juice - Assume 2 to 3 ml a day. Don't be afraid to try non tobacco flavours. Vanilla Custard is my current favourite! Get 10ml bottles or sample packs until you find ones you like.

Ok, been looking at the JacVapour V1P PCC, reviewed here http://www.ecigclick.co.uk/jacvapour-review/ and it looks much better quality than my original suggestion, also seems to have far better battery life and a charging case, which is a good idea in case you forget to charge it at home.

Bit dearer at £35.99 but seems you have to pay a bit more for the better starter kits?

Any opinions on this kit?

Also how long would a starter kit typically last before one needs to start purchasing refills?

Lastly, I notice that it says in the review that the cartridges (JacVapour V1P) are refillable, is this something that is easy to do or is it best for beginners to just stick to buying the prefilled cartridges?

It's good, sounds expensive but not at all when comparing to the price of ciggies. With e-cigs you really do get what you pay for.

That Pcc kit you like is available at vapeescape for a quid cheaper. A lot of these kits are made buy the same company in China and then branded for the different sellers over here. Filling the cartridges is simple enough. The condom method is easiest

more than happy with the kit and still not had a cig.

Here's a better value one with stronger batteries and free delivery over £20 so the price should be what is stated with no extra costs.

Is there anywhere that explains what the different options mean when you are buying an electronic cigarette starter kit? As I've just tried to buy one and got awfully confused.

We decided on the JacVapour V1P PCC after reading several great reviews, so I went to the manufacturers site http://www.jacvapour.com and selected the starter kit we wanted: http://www.jacvapour.com/PCC_kits-The_NEW_V1P_PCC_starter_kit.html however it then presented me with a load of different options regarding the battery/s, tobacco strength, chargers etc.

Firstly tobacco strength, my mum isn't a very heavy smoker, she smokes 8-10 Berkeley Blue Superkings per day, would we choose the 24mg tobacco or would this be too high for her?

Also what is the Tobacco MIX and how is it different from normal Tobacco?

Batteries: I would have though that one would obviously go for the highest power available, so they last as long as possible but is there more to it than that? I notice that the higher power ones are also bigger, could one that is too big not fit the cigarette properly (though surely they wouldn't offer an option that didn't fit) or be uncomfortable to use?

Also what is with all the different colours and rubber tips? just visual or does it affect functionality?

Second battery, a lot of places say they are essential, would you agree? Assume the second one should be identical to the first?

With the chargers, is the secondary one the one that plugs into the PC (or anything with USB)? and the mains one just a plug with USB port?

They say on the site that their 12mg e-liquid is equivalent to a light ciggy and the 18mg equivalent to a full strength ciggy. 18mg should be fine.
That kit will hold all the battery sizes up to the 65mm with the tip and the 78mm without the tip. All the battery's will fit the case.
The bigger battery is always the better option and having a second battery is a good idea, they can be different sizes if you like. The colours and tips are just cosmetic and don't have any effect on the 'smoke'.

The mains charger is always worth getting as a back up or for when you can't get to a computer to charge up.

Eta: I think the MIX might refer to the liquid being a mixture of PG and VG liquids. Most liquids are a mix of these two ingredients . The PG liquid will give you a better throat hit and the VG will produce more 'smoke' .

Thanks, that clears things up a bit. As all the MIX options are showing as 'sold out', I'm thinking normal tobacco 18mg is the way to go as we are looking to go for the smoothest transition from the cigarettes she currently smokes to the e-cig, as possible.

So with the batteries, the tip is removable then? Any reason at all, I shouldn't just go for the biggest 78mm for the first and second battery?

As they are all priced the same, so would seem logical to get the most power i.e. longest battery life available for the price?

I think those are tanks. So you have a little capsule with about 0.8ml (ish) of juice in it. That sits on top of, and feeds, an atomiser - the atty is heated by the battery.

Get the bigger battery if that's the kit you're set on. When I had a similar sized e-cig I could just about kill the smaller battery on the way to work.

On the post above - I have no idea why a heavy smoker would need an auto battery. Newbs like them because its a more natural progression, more like smoking. The battery button really isn't a big deal at all. Becomes a completely subconscious action very quickly.

Edit: that's an expensive kit for what it is, just seen the price.

Another edit: can't decide whether its a tank or a carto now (on my phone). If its a carto you drip juice into the filler material and vape until it starts to go dry.

That kit only comes with one battery, not really advisable, what if it runs out when you need it? I would definitely consider the clearomisers instead they are quick to refill/clean yourself one you get the hang of them. I pretty much expect you to buy the kit and change over at some point. The kit I bought and the others I mentioned above all come with two batteries. For e liquid really shop around I just bought 100ml of blueberry for 11.99. Also read sites like ukvapers.org before committing to your purchase as there will probably be a few reviews on there.

I think you can change the tips on these new version kits , yeah.

I'd definitely go for the bigger size batteries for both ,there is no reason not to. They're the same price, so why not . There's nothing worse than having your battery die just as you fancy a puff .

I am not set on the JacVapour V1P PCC as such, it just seemed a safe bet as I hadn't managed to find any bad reviews of it at all.

The trouble is, there are so many different kits out that at different price ranges with different batteries and cases and accessories that if I don't try to narrow it down I could well end up never actually deciding on one.

Something else I haven't considered yet, the look and feel of the e-cig. Hadn't thought about it before, but my mum said she wants it to look as much like the real thing as is reasonably possible i.e. same colours and similar size (some e-cigs are said to be more like cigars).

Is it safe to assume that most e-cigs will look like the real thing or do some go for different designs. What about the JacVapour V1P PCC I am still thinking about would that look close to the real thing?

This cheap starter kit will give you an idea of what e-cigs are like - just add a bottle of e-liquid and you're ready to go.
If you like it I wquld recommend moving up to the £28.99 ego kit.
An idea of costs based on my own use;

2x 30 ml bottles liquid about £16.00
4 x cartomisers £ 4.40

This does me for a month(medium usage)

Could i ask for opinions on this starter kit?

I smoke around 30 roll ups with a tip a day and i am desperate to stop, i think electronic cigarettes are the way to go for me, i have tried classes, patches, lozenges, zaiban and cold turkey and i am still a smoker
