After also grabbing more of the wealth than the other 90%, then that figures.

So, if A earns £200 this week, and B makes £2m (because he's unlikely to have earned it), then should we bow down to B because he will have paid £1m in tax compared with A's paltry £10 or so?

That's a trollish and inflammatory comment if ever I saw one.

I didn't get that either. Unless you're living off rich parents, anyone who makes 2 million has obviously got a talent that the person earning £200 hasn't and most definitely earned it

I think in a lot of cases it is reverse snobbery. Just because a person does not work manual jobs or so called 'normal' jobs, doesn't mean they have not earned their money.

    Plain old jealousy more like

Every person who has ever said anything along the lines of 'they didn't earn it' or 'they'd paid too much' would take that money in a heartbeat for doing a lot less than the person who did earn it

I've seen fat cats. They aren't that big.

In his case, a morbidly obese tiger with a 100lb stomach tumour would be more fitting :D

Jealousy probably is part of it.

I think in the same way that some wealthy people see blue collar people as unambitious, some blue collar people see wealthy people as lazy and getting paid big bucks for nothing.

    Like who?

I think he meant people like Bono, who accumulate vast fortunes, doing as much as they can to hold on to as much as possible, whilst preaching that people should give what little they can to africa.

The government could quite easily close these loopholes - but they choose not to, because while us plebs are giving people like Moyles pelters for paying less tax than he should, the folk bankrolling the main political parties in this country are taking advantage of the same loopholes. That's why David Cameron will publicly condemn Jimmy Carr, whilst conceding that these schemes are in fact legal, and dodging the question of what he could do to stop the practice. As long as we're all dragging Moyles through the dirt, we're not paying attention to the hypocrites who are actually responsible.

No he hasn't. There are only 168 hours in the week for both. There is a practical limit to how much harder one person can work over another.

I'd say that someone working 100 exhausting hours a week is earning his money. Someone making the same in 30 seconds (in my example) or even 10 minutes (in reality) probably isn't (especially if he was in the bathroom during that ten minutes).

Suppose you're an entertainer. A hundred years ago, there would be thousands like you with your own audience earning a reasonable living. Now roll on mass communications and globalisation, and all those audiences now home in on one popular entertainer, who now also mops up all the earnings of the several thousand others. Lucky chap.

Another thousand years in the future, and audiences now have the choice of the most popular in the galaxy, earning $quadrillions, for doing exactly the same job as you did. See where this is going? The wealth is being unfairly shared out.

Those who earn more from investments than from a wage do not earn all of their wealth, do they? It's because the more money you have the easier it becomes to have more. You can't possibly say those at the very top have earned all their money.

The billionaires of the world who have doubled their wealth in the space of a few short years didn't earn it. It's indisputable that such obscenities occur because of greed and corruption.

Chris earnt the money - the only greedy individuals in this were those who thought it their right to take the money from the individual that earnt it.

The tax system appeals to, and is defended by those who feel a right to other peoples wealth. They are true parasites in this circumstance.

To earn from investments takes a great deal of intelligence and effort. It's not something that any Tom, Dick or Harry can do.

Jesus Christ. It's comparable to a single mother holding down three jobs and earning a pittance, I am sure.

What was that case a while back about some businessman's Cleaner paying more tax than him?

    Greed begets greed.

PAYE maybe. I paid more in VAT on my last purchase than a cleaner gets paid in an entire year. But then I suspect they didn't want to tell the full tale.

Well you musn't have seen the questioning of Starbucks, Amazon and Google over their tax avoidance.

I refer you to post #6 of this thread, however. http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1943524

It is no more or less valid as a job.

It is very hard to feel angry at someone who has broken no laws. If he were evading tax, that would be cause for comment.

I don't get this either, why do they always apologise and say it was a mistake blah blah

They should just come out and say "I found a legal way of paying less tax. So what"

it wasn't really a legal loophole. He claimed to be a second hand car salesman which was a deception.
