I'm travelling to Devon in April and want to break the journey around Stafford area. Any suggestions for a nice family friendly hotel close to motorway ?

Don't know how close you want to be to the M6, but around 20 miles away would be Alton Towers, if you have kids might be an option to stay there the night....depending on much you want to spend.

No. But Alton Towers is junction 15. Just get a travelodge in that area, the AT hotel costs a fortune.

Thanks that might be best option. Is Alton Towers open late as we won't arrive til 5 ? Sorry for all the questions, I don't often escape from Scotland 😂

The park closes about half five / six but you would have to book the hotel.

The Alton Towers hotel is great fun for kids, but I doubt it would be any sort of value for you if weren't using the park.

I've stayed in the Travel lodge in the area and it's fine. You can go out into Stone in the evening if you want for dinner.

Out of interest, where are you doing in Devon?

This one is about 2 miles from junction 16 and has a very good reputation.
Domvilles Farm, Barthomley, Stoke on Trent. 01782 720378.
It is a working farm and is about 1 mile from the lovely old village of Barthomley.
I was born near here so I know the area like the back of my hand.

Where ever you decide to stay have a safe journey J21A-J7 are very very busy and have a lovely holiday.

We stayed at one near Alton Towers on the way up to Scotland, and it was full of asylum seekers, who hung around in flip flops in the corridors talking on mobile phones all night, spitting everywhere, and grabbed any woman who walked past them. Disgusting.

We checked out after a few hours and found a premier inn instead.
