    Against the football...

    ITV (+1 in brackets)
    Love Your Garden - 2.7m (2,8m)
    Benidorm - 1.4m (1.5m)
    News at Ten - 1.7m (1.8m)
    Piers Morgan Life Stories - 700k (800k)

    BBC2
    University Challenge - 1.4m
    Shopgirls - 1.2m
Best of Sarah Millican - 700k
    Newsnight - 400k

    C4
Kirsty's Fill Your House For Free 1.3m (1.5m)
    Beauty Queen or Bust - 600k (700k)
    Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares - 500k (700k)

    C5
    Dog Rescuers - 1.2m (1.3m)
    CSI - 1.1m (1.2m)
    BB - 1m (1.1m)

C5 holding up much better than expected against the match. Dog Rescuers did great (I know it wasn't against the match) but CSI and BB did decently beating BBC2 and C4.

    Wow, Benidorm.

    Thanks Bushmills.

What did the news after the football get on BBC1? And any Brazil result boost for the breakfast shows?

    BBC News at 23.15 got 3.6m (33%)

Won't know about the "Brazil Breakfast Bounce" until tomorrow... :)

Love Your Garden holding solid from last week from stronger opposition albeit low anything else ITV would've put there last night would be below 2m. Hopefully when the competition lessens the rating goes back up to 3.5m+.

The Dog Rescuers held firm, it was quite a upsetting episodes last night. Very pleased its doing well. I imagine this might have stemmed from the success of FTLO Dogs

Both CH4 and BBC2 look weak after their first programme topped 1m.

    Wow, Benidorm.

It was a rpt, and a Tuesday on ITV but still it should be good enough to at least hold 2m.

*1 figs not showing any difference

Does the asterisk mean GMB's figure includes +1? Still getting Daybreak numbers.

Ah okay. Didn't know because how poorly ITV rates on Tuesdays!

An astonishing rating for an astonishing match. The excellent ratings continued without England involved.

The figs for 'live' and +1 viewing are the same.

Not surprising really, as breakfast news programmes aren't the sort of things people watch on timeshift (or so few people do it that they don't actually show up in the figures).

I thought that Daybreak numbers were generally around 600,000?

It gets 600k every so often but is usually around 500k.

Germany vs Brazil is highest ever rating TV show in Germany (since data been collected) with avg 32.6m viewers and 87.8% share. Apparently

I'm a bit confused by your use of the present tense there, as those figures could very well describe GMB rather than Daybreak

    Whoops!

I was talking about GMB. It's not rating as well as Daybreak.

Again, the rounding discussion comes into play though.

Massive figure for Brazil vs Germany, interesting that 11m were watching at the start of the game. Netherlands vs Argentina tonight will probably peak around 11m tonight I imagine, unless it is a thriller like last night

Some people seem to watch +1 without realising, and then take to Twitter to moan about the clock being an hour behind. There's an account which showcases the best tweets...

    https://twitter.com/GoodMornMorons

Perhaps a "You are watching on +1" caption is needed for the easily confused.

Great figures last night but worth noting 12m were watching at 9.05pm and the crazy 6 minutes when 4 goals were scored didn't actually add a huge amount more. So it was going to get big ratings anyway.

I was absolutely stunned watching the football last night and the rating matches it.

The Match average for Germany vs Spain at the last world cup was 10.48m in the officials. So it easily beats that.

I think because the result was so momentous it might actually boost ITV's program tonight.

    Yesterday to 2 d.p.
    Breakfast - 1.47m (37.8%)
    GMB - 0.49m (13.4%)

    Monday
    Breakfast - 1.57m (38.3%)
    GMB - 0.52m (13.7%)

GMB is a fair bit down on Daybreak now.

The all-time top 10 list of German ratings now consists of 9 football matches and yesterday's news bulletin at half time. ;-)

    http://meedia.de/2014/07/09/neuer-deutscher-tv-rekord-3257-mio-sahen-die-71-wm-sensation/

But interestingly, the 1990 World Cup final had a marginally higher market share (87.9%). The official number of viewers was 28.66m back then but thas was West-Germany only (61m inhabitants, as opposed to 81m in today's united Germany).

    Ouch!

And the school holidays haven't started properly yet. Wasn't Daybreak closer to 600k near the end some weeks?

At the beginning of July last year Daybreak averaged 630k (1st - 10th July). In 2012 the average was 670k, in 2011 743k. GMB this month is averaging 540k.

Interesting. With every revamp the ITV breakfast audience has gone down. How did Breakfast do over the same period? Has its audience stayed constant?
