:( She truly has. How unkind life is sometimes. I hope she has the strength to fight this one off again.

Depends on where it is. If it's on the lining/membrane then the chances are bleak (experience with a relative on that one...)

Very sad news indeed. I'm not the greatest fan of her writing, but my goodness, what a truly awful piece of information about one of the UK's most influential female writers. Caroline has had so much bad luck thrown at her bless her.

Unfortunately, the prognosis for lung cancer is generally dire, but hopefully everything will be alright for Caroline. I genuinely wish her well.

    God love her
This is the THIRD time she is fighting this bloody disease
Having lost my mum to it and knowing she has lost relatives and even an ex boyfriend I join EVERYONE on here and I'm sure all on DS who send love thoughts and prayers for her recovery xxxx

She is currently one of the voice overs on the hilarious Gogglebox along with Craig Cash.

I was shocked and saddened to hear this news just now and wish her nothing but the best.

I just posted about this in the TV forum, having forgot to look here.

I really like Caroline Aherne but I have lost three members of my family to lung cancer and the prognosis is usually not good.

    Best wishes to Caroline. xx

Don't want to sound callous but if you smoke so heavily for so many years that's what's likely to happen...

With respect Jason my Mum neither smoked or drunk and she fell victim to it

    Not exactly tactful are you?
I hope you haven't any personal experience of it
    I really really do

It makes me mad when people say stuff like 'they have no sympathy' etc for any death where the person may of aided the disease or in the case of the guy surfing the van in the mirror today, yeah stupid thing to do but At the end of the day he is a human with family who loves him and he like Caroline and their families need support and love not judgement and hate... No one is perfect

Haters are only really hating themselves.

Hope Caroline gets over this. She has still been doing the narration for Gogglebox, while obviously not being well

Couldn't agree with you more Sir !!
I've been lucky enough to spend time in both her and Craig Cash's company my cousins brought up just a few doors away from her too
A lovely gutsy lady who truly doesn't deserve this (whoever does?)

It depends on how far it's got. If it has gone too far I'm afraid there is not much hope of a recovery.

I had early stages of lung cancer 6 years ago. They removed part of my lung, and cross fingers I'm still OK. Mine was due to smoking which fortunately I had given up some years previous to the cancer being discovered. When I was young we didn't have all the information there is nowadays, and when I see youngsters smoking to-day, I think "I just wish you'd stop".

I am one of the lucky ones, and I really wish her all the luck in the world and that the specialists have caught it time.

O/T*Might be wrong* but looking at your name, I am making a massive assumption about you...but I think I used to go to a market near you every week, a market that moved indoors a few years ago.;-) I'm probably very wrong, so ingnore this - lol!

She's brilliant on Gogglebox - sets the tone perfectly, can't believe she's been doing it while unwell.
