Basically Flo-Jo went from also-ran to Superman in the blink of an eye and then randomly decided to quit when they got tougher on the drug testing.
Oddly, something similar happened the Press 'sisters' back in the day - long thought to be be gender ' cheats' they were dominant and then suddenly retired when testing was brought in
I don't see the statute of limitation issues regarding rewriting record books. Trying to strip medals or prize money or any criminal sanctions would be more difficult but the IAAF really should get the eraser out for all those Women's records set by Communist athletes where state doping has been documented.
I was amazed at what happened. Even when her estranged husband of the time, CJ, had said after he'd been caught that Marion was also at it, I didn't believe him. What I can't understand was why? She was naturally gifted. A star in several sports at 16.
That makes two of us Mandark. I didn't believe him either.
Nice to find another favourite athlete though, eh?;)
Speaking of which, Christine O is just wonderful. She's a magnificent athlete. Her relentless strength in the finishing straight is awesome.
I really like Blessing and Christine.
I really wanted Blessing to win the gold in the long jump. To think Brittney Reese only made the final by the skin of her teeth ... and then won gold too. The unpredictability of athletics eh!
Never liked Marion Jones either, and had my doubts about her. She was so bulky and far too large to be able to run that fast imo.
Also that har stare look down the track, then the slow bend of the neck so her eyes dropped to look at the track whilst on the blocks. The eyes of a cheat.
She was supposed to be the women's equivalent of Carl Lewis with the sprint and Long Jump double.
Yep, I can see what you are saying now, but at the time I was oblivious to the obvious. I never listened, and (even worse) defended her.

Do you remember Eva Klobukowska? A sort of post op mish mash of chromosomes being treated with oestrogen?
hmm andy turner has removed his tweet. it said something along the lines of "seriously. what is that in carmelita jeter's knickers?" and it included a close up of her pelvic/upper leg area. good of him to remove it but completely unnecessary. what was going through his head? he's still responding to tweets about it though he's deleted his original tweet:
andy turner @andyturner110h
seriously tweeps, watch it back and have a look, what is that???
Its unfortunate that the stadium has almost a skeleton audience-Im sure it would be a sell out in Britain.
Between 5 and 13 August 2017 inclusive, we'll know for sure.
On another note, I see blue tracks are in vogue for IAAF WC venues these days (2009/11/13). Will this trend continue into 2015/17? Both corresponding venues have new(ish) red tracks installed for the 2008/12 Olympics.
I can't see PSD winning the 400mH, Hejnova looks unbeatable to me. Silver would be tremendous for Perri.
But how many times have we seen an athlete dominate the GP circuit - only to come to the main event of the year and they have overdone it and are stale. Susanna Hejnova is very good - but Perri can beat her
Look at Montscho today, dominated the circuit and did not have enough left to win today

Bookies will give you 4/1 on Perri winning so get a few quid on. I am with Bosox. Silver at very best
perri definitely has a shot at silver providing she runs like she has been this season. it's been made easier by moline falling (though i hated seeing that), kaliese spencer being DQd (hated that as well) and antyhuk and demus not looking to be in last year's form.

There haven't been too many shocks so far this championships, Lavillenie not winning the Pole Vault was the first one really. And the Hammer result was also a surprise. I don't think Chrissy winning was a surprise as we know she is a great champs performer.
As well as being dominant all year Hejnova is a much better technical hurdler than Perri which makes her less likely to make mistakes under pressure. Perri has never even reached a global final before now so winning a medal of any colour would be a great achievement by her.

In more ways than the obvious - was almost certainly hugely wind assisted on top of all the rest - faulty wind gauge, etc...
Can't really -statute of limitation issues...

A catalogue of howlers. Maybe all TV presenters should do radio first
Do you remember Eva Klobukowska? A sort of post op mish mash of chromosomes being treated with oestrogen?
I felt really sorry for her actually.
Remember what poor Caster Samanya had to endure:eek:

@andyturner110h it's the chord from her knickers 😃

@preppet trust me thats no chord from her nickers. it moved when she walked

Indeed. I don't think her 'case' was handled with any more delicacy than Eva's was in the 1960's. Very sad.
There's been a few down the years sadly.

Heidi Krieger looks the spitting image of my cousin when he had longer hair!
I think Perri Shakes Drayton has a decent chance of a medal if not the gold in the 400m hurdles - and a certain Mo Farrah in the 5,000metres
If Mo runs it, he was so knackered after the 10,000
Hope so, for me the greatest UK athlete of my generation - i like the longer distances
Yeah I've counted Mo as a cert for the 3rd, but I'm just trying to see if there's any more than that to come.
Perri hasa good chance. And the ladies 4x400 m relay squad should medal too, when you think that it could include PSD, Elidh Child, Okaro and Ohurougu
