    I like it!

I was born in Leamington Spa Warwickshire, I spent half my life in East London, only lived in Essex Westley Heights Laindon for 6 years. Home is Havering-Atte-Bower Greater London, don't let my forum name fool you. :D

Don't even try and play the "London Borough of Havering" card. Romford is in Havering - still bloody Essex tho innit! :p

FWIW Rein (pronounced by the cycling commentators as Rain) is a male name in Estonia:

I quite like it, heard a lot worse. Know someone who called his son Beowulf. His school days will be fun..

One of the most macho names this side of John Rambo. Unfortunately he might be a complete weed.

I knew a lad called Storm a while back. I thought it was just his nickname was it was his real name. Think he had a funny surname but cannot remember it.

Wasn't there a guy on BGT once called Storm and one of the other judges had a go at Simon for refusing to call him that?

I think it's a nice enough name but every time I hear it I think of Ross and Rachel from Friends:

Ross: 'Hi, Hi - my name is Rain, I have my own kiln and my dress is made out of wheat...':D

rain and rainy are short for lorraine. we have a rainy-girl in our extended family, much nicer than "lorraine".

I hate the name Lorraine, I always think of Lorraine Kelly when someone says that name.:D

As someone who has just 8 weeks to find a single girls name that I actually like I can tell you I have seen a lot of names recently.

Rain is not a nice one... in-fact it doesn't even come close to being anywhere near in our "possible" pile ...

It's even more horrendous for a poor boy!

If you lived in a desert or something, I reckon Rain would be a good name.

Rain rain rain rain - beautiful rain etc.

But for Britain? Flamin' hell, who wants it?

I always think of Barbara Cartland's daughter, who was second wife to Earl Spencer, Diana's father.

    Awful woman with scary hair.

It's not easy is it! My youngest two didn't have names until they were a few days old, we just couldn't decide.:o

    I certainly never considered Rain!

As for all the parents hinking it's "cool" to give their kids a stupid name, just spare a thought for you child growing up with a name that you thought was great for five minutes

    i think it's lovely.

I don't think DS is the audience for positive comments on a name like this though, so if it's your name, don't let it get you down.

Considering I plan to stick to my guns and name my daughter after a popular brand of sunflower spread.... Rain! Why not?
