Aye, especially with the picture, I assumed the same as him.
If you can afford a picture, you've got a few bob and are doing well.
Instead we've got a inmate release picture from an asylum.
The transformation of treatment of the mentally ill at that time is worthy of a program in and of itself.

This is his story of one of his great grand parents
What about the other seven of his great grand parents
Were they not interesting enough for WDYTYA ?

Well as there was so much going on with this Henry guy, if we had seen the rest he would have taken up every episode!

No I don't wonder, given some of the people featured have had ancestors lose 4 or 5 children, before the age of 5.
Sense of proportion/history might help on this line of thought.

They are bound to choose the most dramatic stories. They can only tell so many.

Possibly, although as someone else has pointed out by another FM today and others last week, it's TV it has to fit into an hour.

Also those that lead to interesting things as regards history, glovemaking, lunatic asylums, etc.

Parkie was asked, but they found nothing 'interesting' in his story, so the program didn't go ahead.
Long line of farm labourers who never moved out of one village isn't all that interesting.

    Well, obviously not.

In fact, some folk have gone on it only for the producers not to go ahead with the programme because the researchers can't find enough historical scandal, misery, tales of derring do, earning and losing the family fortune, deprivation or tragedy.

    Quite a depressing episode!

I sometimes think that some people have more than their fair share of tragedy to balance out all the people who seem to live charmed lives.

Poor Henry was one of the unlucky ones.

I'm not a fan of TV chefs but Greg came across really well.

It's only a sixty minute programme. They choose to follow or two lines in detail rather a few minutes each on as many people as possible.
