I wasn't dismissing them. I believe in One God, the Father Almighty... to me, other gods are interpretations of the One God. I don't expect many people to agree with me, of course, but that is my interpretation to date.

Your opinion isn't valid because you were brainwashed from a young age.

You don't believe in God because you looked at all the facts and then decided to believe in God. You believe in God because you were told to believe in God and sadly you have now gone past the point of no return.

You were never given the chance to think for yourself.

    How can you prove that?

    Do you even know them??

However, in the absence of the observational truths one can only exclaim that, as there is little evidence of a supreme being, one must reject all gods as a false premise

You might exclaim such a thing, based on your narrow paradigms, pardon me for saying so. God doesn't fit into your box(es), so, therefore, God does not exist - in your opinion. Having faith, and belief in God, is not about narrowing down (as you seem to be doing) but in opening up! :)

    That is not a fact

It is a fact that something does not exist until it is proven to exist. Therefore God does not exist. What do you not understand about that?

99.9% of religious people had it shoved down their throat from birth.

No sane adult person would choose to believe in such nonsense.

    Wrong! :)

What you need to do is stop believing implicitly (and without question) what Dawkins says. He talks a load of rubbish where religion is concerned.

But, seeing as you are interested: I was not "brainwashed" from a young age; far from it! I was not brought up in a religious household. FACT! I became a Christian at 17 years of age, on my own, without any influence from anyone else. Why? Because I was touched by God. Laugh and sneer all you like but that was my experience and the beginning of my spiritual path. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it. ;)

I don't for one moment believe in your nonsense, actually. And that is definitely what you are speaking here. :)

Some people have been touched by God and some are still waiting - doesn't mean that I have to give up hope does it?

    Well, what happened?

Did you see him? Did you hear his voice? Did he perform a miracle?

Excuse me, but I am not going to dance to your demands.

Now why don't you stop worrying and enjoy your life. ;)

So, now, something only exists because someone has told you so? Oh, the irony LOL :D

What I don't get is this. If god really existed why would god be touching you ?

Isn't that a bit pervy ? Not very god like to me.

Demands? I merely asked a simple question because I am intrigued to know what happened.

I believe in things that can be proved beyond reasonable doubt or have a basis or logical foundation in science.

    Thank you, miniskins. :)

Keep searching and you will find.

Jesus said: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."

    Also:

"And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

Why are you bringing Richard Dawkins into it? I've not once mentioned Dawkins.

    Also:

    "Alas! Ear wax!"

If it's written in a book it must be true.

I believe in things that can be proved beyond reasonable doubt or have a basis or logical foundation in science.

A scientific theory hinges on empirical findings, and remains subject to falsification if new evidence is presented. That is, no theory is ever considered certain. Theories very rarely result in vast changes in human understanding.
    [...]

In contrast to the always-provisional status of scientific theory, a myth can be enjoyed irrespective of its truth.
