Just a quick straw poll....

What are people's average DL and UL speed on Three in a DC-HSPA area?

Can you post below, with your location and time of speed test below?

No network bashing please. Keep that to the other threads.

Thanks.

Fairly typical speed for this area. Maybe a slight slow Down during peak times.

I think it's good to ask what handset the member is using as well just to keep things in perspective. For example if you don't have a DC-HSPA+ device then speeds won't be as fast. I'll post a bit later with my results when i get time. On average though i usually see above 15mbps but last week i was struggling to get 6mpbs. guessing there was maintenance

The N7100 only supports 21Mbps down, the LTE model (N7105) which Three sell as a 'Superfast' handset supports 42Mbps HSPA.

That speed test has the wi-fi symbol, has three as the carrier, then says that it's a HTC 8S not 8X....

Retford (DN22, not giving exact location for obvious reasons), HSPA+ (21.6Mbps theoretical limit) a few minutes ago on my Nexus 4:

    I'm in a DC-HSPDA area but using 21Mbps capable Huawei E53 dongle.

    My latest 3 samples:

Maidenhead normally produces the fastest results from my fixed line and that is the first two listed, Edinburgh is closest but normally slower although in this case it was not the fastest.

    Cheers mate thanks.

So the consensus is, apart from Wavejock, the speeds are fine ;)

I think there was at least one other who posted lower speeds than I did and on similar speed ratings threads there have been vast differences between the best, average and the lowest speeds.

My normal 3 speed is between 2.5 and 4.5 Mbps and I have never experienced more than 5 Mbps in Glasgow. Vodafone manage about the same on average but peak at about 7.5 Mbps on a good day using the same dongle with their SIM installed.

The speed test images can't be faked AFAIK when they are URL's directly to their site archive of test results, as mine are, complete with network ID and the date and time of the result. I wish I could get better results but what has been posted is what I got with the equipment as detailed.

Thank-You, as you well know for far too long there have been some who do little else!

Some of the speeds experienced in England are amazing. I'm not 100% sure but it may be that the kit used North of the border is different? Or were those tests just at a busy time when data traffic was high? I am in a place that was designated 'good for outdoor reception' but today I noticed the signal strength on 3 was as strong as with Vodafone so I don't think distance from the mast played a big part (Vodafone's is actually further up the same road).

With 3 DC speeds I get upto 13Mb at home(England midlands), my cousin who is currently working out of town in Glasgow installing a new generator into a power station told me today he is getting around 19mb in most of the city.

I'm in Glasgow and I have just posted this speed test in another thread:

    Test Date: Mar 24, 2013 10:36:31 PM
    Connection Type: Cell
    Server: London
    Download: 20.55 Mbps
    Upload: 2.30 Mbps
    Ping: 59 ms

    http://www.speedtest.net/android/405183154.png

They really have a great network here. Most other places in the central belt are >10Mbps on a DC - HSDPA Nexus 4.

The problem with Dongles is they are never the same speed as a Phone. I'll post up a few Scottish Three tests when i can find my Three sim. I swear if these things get any smaller we'll need tweezers to install them.

As for people editing speed tests.. thats a bit daft.

    HP2 14.19 down, 1.13 up, iPhone 5.
Same location 13.42 down, 1.56 up, iPad Mini.

Both measurements done within a minute of each other. These numbers are fairly typical of what I see.

As a comparison, same location, same time:
    4.09 down 1.06 up, Nexus 4 on T-Mobile with H showing.
