Can't believe Ola made the cut. This is going to be another year of James bitching on Twitter and ~anonymous sources making statements to the press, I guess.

Bleh. IMO these cheap tabloid stories drag the show down, and whoever leaks them too. James will be insufferable on twitter and will no doubt get more attention.

Gutted that Iveta has gone, sorry not to see more of Trent and ambivalent about Robin leaving (although shame on the Beeb for not even acknowledging him and his contribution to the show). Neither Ola nor Aliona are favourites of mine but heigh-ho, as long as Aljaz, Pasha, Kristina and Natalie are on the show, all is ok in Strictly-land.

Off to do some research on the newbies, since I've never heard of them...

The fact that she keeps coming back is making me think she and James are doing exactly what the BBC wants in getting the show publicity and they are all pretty happy with the situation. I wish they wouldn't though, as I think all the bitching and negative stories drag down the atmosphere of the show. I could be looking back through rose-tinted spectacles, but I think the whole show was better when the press were less interested in it.

I think this is probably the most likely scenario and I agree to me the show was better when there was less hype - all the previous producers have played to the tabloids in their own ways but I think these new producers have taken it to another level!

It'll be intresting to see who Ola gets though - If another pro has to get a duffer just because they're scared of giving her one then I'll be really disappointed.

I would rather have kept Iveta and lost Ola, too much negativity
Also loosing Robin seems a bit strange, he formed great relationships with his partners. I am wondering if Tristian is seen as taking over that role, he should have been acknowledged like Iveta and Trent

    From Robin's Facebook page:

Sadly I will not be returning to Strictly Come Dancing this year - a shame considering the year I had - however I have had a brilliant 5 years on the show and wish everyone the best of luck x

I wonder why the BBC chose not to mention his contribution and thank him for it.

HOW COULD THEY AX IVETA :o:o AND KEEP JANETTE :o ??? EXCUSE ME ? 2 time Latin champion and keeping a non-trained Ballroom/Latin dancer ? ARE TPTB MAD >:(>:( !!!!????!!!!

    Poor Trent and Iveta :(
I am so glad that Ola is back; She is a very good teacher and a sweetheart; She shouldnt be penalized for her hothead of husband and Im glad that she wasnt.

The casting of Gleb makes up for all this disappointment.

But YESSSSSSSSSSSS GLEB !!! I have wanted this since he appeared in season 16 at DWTS; After the way DWTS treated him, I was hoping that Strictly will have him as a pro. DREAMS COME TRUE :D:D:D

I'm amazed Brendan is back - I would have laid good money he had had enough last year and wanted out. I suppose its too lucrative (in terms of visibility to generate other work) a gig to give up. Kudos to Aliona too for persisting in the face of her previous 'dismissal' to claw her way back in - she's not my fave but she has certainly scrapped to keep this one. Sad to see Iveta go if it wasn't her choice - she's a wildly better dancer than more than one of the women who have stayed and she hasn't been around long enough for us to get tired of her.

With the way the show is now, the pros don't really need to know that much about ballroom and latin. Most of the dances are unrecognisable and the last couple of winners have won without really mastering much technique-wise. They all seem to get 'help' with their choreography from Jason Gilkison/the producers etc. If the show continues the way of DWTS (where the dances look more like group stage productions than technical ballroom dances) then dancers like Janette, who can put on a show like she did with Jake, are probably more suited to it. Not saying I like the way its going BTW, but that seemed to be where the producers were taking it last year.

We are never going to get rid of Anton , are we  ?
Poor Bobby, I doubt he left by choice; I feel a bit bad for him :(
I am really surprised to see that they didnt keep Iveta :(
Happy to see Brendan back...he is one of the pillars of the show; I never want him to leave
I have a theory regarding Trent...could it be that he insisted (like it was rumoured ) that they add his wife Gordana on the pro line up and they didnt so he decided to leave as well ? That could be the case...I am really surprised that they didnt keep him.

Okay now that I have calmed down over the news of Gleb being cast ; some of my favorites Ola, Aliona , Natalie, Kristina , Aljaz, Brendan being back and processed all this information, this is a VERY good and strong pro line up......

I am very excited for this new season :D

And that girl is 8 times South African Latin American champion :o:o; I know that Kristina was South African Latin champion once as well; in 2005/06.

Was never really a fan of Robin ‘the dancer’ but really thought he had a lovely manner about him with his partners. So the lack of mention in the press release is rather disrespectful.

Bit surprised and a little disappointed Ola’s back really. Nothing against Ola at all, but last year was not a good one.

There’s only four ballroom specialists on the show now. Ooh err.

I wonder if that Robin interview when he pulled back the curtain has played any part in if?

That article and Robin's statement make me think its pretty clear that Trent and Robin were not invited back. Iveta sounds like it was probably her choice to be fair, though we cannot be certain.

Anyway, I'm disgusted. Ola can throw a sicky to get another pay day and gets another year, as does Brendan who treated his very able partner very badly last year and pushed her to the background in her own routine? Yet they get rid of Trent, who delivered some of the most creative and enjoyable routines of the series? I'm not a fan of Robin but he has been good to the show, particularly with his participation in the people's strictly and ITT so I think the way he's been treated is pretty bad.

Very disappointing news, however I am glad to see most of the others back - and of course to seeing how the newbies get on. 16 couples though, is that a bit much?

I do think he pushed his luck with that, but Ola seems to have got away with worse so its unfair if he is being penalised for that. Presumably you can do whatever you like if you're perceived to be one of the most popular dancers!

There is more to dancing than just knowing the technique. Ivetta for all her knowledge about the steps was robotic and did not engage me personally when she danced, I just liked her weird-funny personality. there's a dance with shirley bassey singing Gold Finger last year where Aliona and Janette put Ivetta to shame on the dance floor, she was just lifeless.

As per Trent's rumor, it wasn't, about three weeks ago I was told that Trent was telling the producers that he would only come back if his wife Gordana was included as part of the pros and I came to the forum and wrote about it, it was a fact and I also said that he was mistake on his part, he let Gordana put pressure on his game and he lost the bet.

Thrilled that Janette is back, she did a magnificent job last series, get used to her.

Ola, A big surprise, she was almost toast.

it seems like Anton will always be back and happy for Tristan and Aljaz.

Ola gets them press, I think it's as simple as that. Other than Anton and Brendan, she is the most famous pro whether we like her or not, for that reason they'll keep her until they find another female pro who the trash tabs will get into.

16 celebs = 14 weeks = SCD returning late August = unlikely? I think 16 celebs is far too much, so hopefully they'll throw in a double elimination or two to keep the number of weeks down.
