Radio 5 Olympics Extra on 723
Radio Times (28 June) gives R5Olympics Extra as on LCN 723 thus apparently displacing TalkSport, which is removed from listings. RT adds that R5OExtra is on DAB, Online, FV. I guess the BBC paid a tidy sum to TalkSport for pinching their 'frequency' for the duration?
RT also dropped Asian Network but this may have more to do with space rather than its Mbps being taken for R5 etc? |

The RadioTimes is wrong. BBC5LOX is not on digital television platforms.
Visitors to my website will have noticed the wooden spoon I gave them last weekend for doing that

Er, indeed as I phoned BBC Audience Services but it took them many minutes to establish it !
So we pay an extra 60p, (+43%) for the Olympics RT and they get it wrong, arggggg. Tried phoning RT but their switchboard is jammed. That's what you get when you privatise the RT - sold to Intermediate Media last year on orders from ConDem gov. PS: We didn't even want the supplement as we are not watching the Olympics. |

I am not a sports fan, but I have wondered why is Radio 4 long wave not being used to provide Olympic coverage or R5 exol. It is used for cricket.
