Help !
I do voluntary work for a charity nearby. There is a 2 day 'Welcome to' course running next week for this charity and all new starters, whether volunteers or paid, are expected to do it.
It runs 9-5 so my friend was going to provide care for my kids
( aged 9 and 6) before and after school, despite the fact that my kids are at different schools ( lower and middle ) and her kids go to different schools. Now she is unable to help ( one of her kids is ill and will definitely be off next week ) and I'm not sure what to do.
I always fit this voluntary work around my children and the school day. I've agreed to do this course, but not sure who looks after my girls !! I've rung around the local before/after school schemes and they are very expensive and I don't see why I should be forking out x amount of pounds to do a course for a job I am not paid for !
What should I do ? ! Email them and ask if they will pay my childcare costs or if I can just turn up for the hours they are at school, or what ? !

Charities/Non-Profits rely on generous people such as yourself for offering your labour free of charge. It couldnt hurt to ask your employer if they can think of any free childcare arrangements.
