For Christmas my wife bought me a BBPB. What a waste of time it has been.
I have spent practically the whole of the past 4 days trying to get my computer to connect to this device. USB no go. Bluetooth no go. WiFi to computer no go.
I have tried 3 different computers 2 laptops on windows XP and a desk computer on windows 7. All say with USB connection error occured mounting BBPB (pin501DB325) please reconnect. I have been surfing the net and it appears I am not the only one who is having problems with this tablet.
On Bluetooth the BbPB will not accept files sent by the PC's even though computer and BbPB are tied together. I even downloaded a Blackberry desktop for Windows from RIM (Manufacturers) but that did not work it just sent my computer processor into a loop which got it hot and switched itself off?
Just a complete waste of time and money. I had a go at resetting the BlackberryPB but all that did on reboot was loose me BBCi player app and a game that was initially on the device.
My advice for anyone would be stay away, no wonder they are selling them cheap with 64 gig memory that you cannot access!
It beggers belief that the makers cannot design something that can be plug and play!

You may have a duff one.
Or a duff user?
It is hard to believe that anyone could spend 4 days reading the manual and searching the Internet for inspiration w/o noticing that their new toy is not called a Pocketbook. If they had read the manual they would see in a few seconds that their Playbook does not support file transfer over Bluetooth, requires the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your computer for a USB connection, and for WiFi you need to note the IPv4 address for your tablet and browse to that.
He maybe dyslexic.
There is also PlayCloud which makes life much easier.
I just got mine and I'm delighted with it. I'm not very good when it comes to computing but following the How To guides was very easy.
I read a lot on this forum first which led me to buy it and I'm so glad I did.
Hope you get it sorted out. There are some good guides on the BlackBerry.com site too.
The Playbook is an excellent device. However, you do need the Blackberry desktop management software installed on your PC to copy across music, video and other files. There are other ways of doing it but the desktop software is the best and it installs the necessary USB drivers.
If you have this installed and still have connection issues, are you trying to connect off a USB hub? If so try connecting off a USB connection on the PC. If you are doing that and are still having connection problems, try a different cable.
I find the Blackberry desktop software easy to use, I have used it on a Windows XP and Windows 7 machine.
Get back here if you are still having problems.
Requiring some kind of special desktop software to transfer sets alarm bells ringing for me. Stuff like that always seems to create problems.
What?????????????????
The same goes for the Ipad as well you have to have their software to get it running properly.
Think they did:

Why are you looking in network connections????????????
When you installed the desktop management software and then connected the Playbook (when the software told you to do so) what happens?
Did you install the Desktop manager software on your son in laws laptop?
One thing you can try is a factory restore of the Playbook which can be done through settings, it will wipe out any apps you've downloaded but they can be re-installed once you re-input your blackberry ID anyway..
Never had a problem with mine, nor have friends/colleagues with them.
Connect to PC. The BB Desktop Manager was on the Playbook ready for installation. It installed, and it worked. No issues whatsoever. The software runs fine on XP SP3 or Windows 7.
I've got a Playbook and a Nexus 7, the Nexus 7 only ever gets used by the kids for gaming, the Playbook is definitely the better all round device.
Already did a reset. Like I said earlier I lost the car game and the BBC I player that was already installed on rebooting. The usb drivers are not on the pb. Software now 2.1.0.1314. Pb treats connection as a network via a usb port. Have a look. I think the pb must be faulty. The desktop software only has the usb drivers so I had to install that to get the drivers. When connecting pb to computer network connection appears on check says this is operating correctly. I hear a ping from the computer quickly followed by another indicating a connection then a disconnection. No Z drive appears. Windows XP reports an error Like Ex043. I think the pb is connecting to the computer but not responding to the acknowledgement sent from the computer. The same thing seems to be happening on bluetooth even though both pb and computer are linked together the computer says unable to make connection when trying to send a file.
Bluetooth's to my phone, via the Bridge software, and I've used the phone as a mousepad and (small) keyboard.
Connected to my PC straight away upon connection. Have downloaded a couple of converted movies, as well as a few albums, and also side-loaded some converted Android apps. Whenever I plug back in the PC detects it straight away as drive "z".
All works fine and I couldn't be happier.
I've never had the slightest issues with the PB - only ever wanted to connect it to a PC once and it worked fine.
The only downside is the limited range of apps available.
The fault is probably not with the Playbook. There are several sites with information on this fault which appears to be a known Windows issue (although I've connected my PB to Windows XP and Windows 7 PC's without problems)
Here is the Microsoft/Blackberry one

If you Google 0xB3 with Playbook in the search as well there are several sites where this has come up (depends on your version of Windows with suggested fixes)
But you admit that it works, it just doesn't connect to your PC. Which is more likely to be a problem with your PC.
Tried 5 different pc's all giving same results.
Yes but only one user. How did you try to connect to the five PCs?
You have already been told that file transfers are not supported at all via Bluetooth and that USB transfers work only if Blackberry Desktop software has been correctly installed on each required PC.
