Suprised by how much i enjoyed it actually! Really good and can't wait until next week, and also a nice change to see a generally positive reaction on here as well! :p

Yep but it didn't long before we got the usual DS responses like this...

It is a pity that the BBC cannot produce drama of high quality.... unfortunately, with the best will in the world, would anyone admit to joining any syndicate to play the lottery ?

Even for a basic prize of £10, the probability of correctly selecting 3 numbers from 49 is approximately 1 in 57, which means on average you need to play 57 times times simply to win £10. For 4 numbers, the probability reduces to 1 in 1033. For 5 numbers, 1 in 54200. For 5 numbers and a bonus ball, 1 in 2333000. And for 6 numbers, 1 in 13983816.

Of course, if you play the lottery on the pretext of providing money to "Good Causes", there are more efficient ways to do this than through the lottery where only about 2.6% of any stake goes to "Good Causes".

Just sat through this with my partner and thought it was a right load of tosh. Then again I dont watch soaps and this seemed to be a low rent episode of Coronation Street. The way the lotto win was handled by the lottery company seemed so far from the actuall reality of how it really happens as to make it totally unbelivable. No one is forced to do publicity and going to see the guy in hospital about the vote was laughable. I know its not the real world and a bit of artistic liscence is required to help the story run properly but it was rubbish.

I just watched it on iplayer and was pleasantly surprised. Due to the horrible advert the BBC kept showing i expected it to be another Candy Cabs, but it was pretty well done. I'll watch it next week.

Do you think the brother deserved the share of the winnings? I don't think he deserves a share because it is clear he hasn't payed for that ticket and not just that ticket but the past 4 which I think would become a habit if they didn't win that week. So for the past 5 weeks, Denise has had to pay for his tickets.

It might be different if I was in that situation, I might feel guilty and let him have a share because he has two kids, one premature and his other personal problems.

I enjoyed it. I believe it will be the brother that voted against him, it's unlikely the other 2 would have because having chatted about it in our office we all agreed if it were us in that situation (wouldn't that be fab!!!) we'd certainly not be able to begrudge a collegue their winnings for the sake of £5. Although I run the syndicate here and no one gets away without paying me!! Lol!!!

I think it will be the reason he goes against his brother and their theft is found out.

I'll definately watch again, I found it easy watching and raised a few smiles.

Crikey I was just giving my opinion. I did not realise it was a fan thread. I do not normally watch soapy dramas but my partner nicked the remote off me and after a stressful long day at work I could not be arsed to move off the sofa. I would have rather watched the real life drama that is Chelsea FC. :)

I love being in the syndicate at work - we all say it is worth the £1 just for the dreams we can have about what we would do if we won - spend more time on that than actually working !

I left the work syndicate when I retired, and at the end of the "syndicate year" I got a cheque for £22 being my share of the winnings built up over the year

Just watched my recording of it. I thought it was engaging enough but it was trashy soap stuff that usually ends up on ITV.

The writers ought to give the police more credit over how well they can spot an obvious crime. It was the worst inside job ever and there was guilt all over the brothers' faces. If this had been real life, the police would have been charging them by the end of the next day. The CCTV footage is the icing on the cake.

Didn't like how the blonde (Stuart's girlfriend) went from sensible worried new mum to footballer's wife in about a second. Watching he fat woman desperately trying to impress her disinterested husband isn't going to be fun either. I don't see how she could be so keen now she doesn't need him.

What's that song when everyone is buying lottery tickets. Best things in life are free.

I hope the brother's get found out.

Which way did the Vote go, who voted for what?

but why did the big lass shop him in the first place for not paying.

Depends on the system by which they record money in, the same numbers, splitof smaller wins etc, and also as I mentioned what their syndicate agreement is.
You have to have these sort of things written down as if you had someone not paying but your syndicate wins there can easily be legally challenged.
I would cover one week for example if I didn't chase someone properly or they were away but any more than that we buy one less line and they don't win. And everyone signed that agreement.
Mind you in the case of The Syndicate there would be evidence from the others that she never actually asked him for the money, she asked her brother to ask him the last time remember? So if the vote went against him (esp considering the family issues) he might have been able to challenge it (if he had the money for a solicitor)

Just caught up with this OnDemand and thought it was excellent!

Great acting from the guy who plays Stuart.. especially during the robbery (and aftermath) scenes.

Will definitely be catching this next week.

It's the Flying Lizards - Money (that's what I want).
    Love the womans voice!

Also, Amy was in Misfits playing an old woman who becomes young again during the storm and gets with Nathan.

After watching the first episode, I can safely say that that dark haired lad's girlfriend is more interested in the money than him. The overweight woman with glasses, she's a complete doormat for her husband/boyfriend. I also think it was that Welsh lass who voted against the dark haired lad getting a share of the winnings.

I watched until they found out they'd won, but I'd already lost interest.

Not my kind of drama, I won't be watching any more. Never had any interest in the 'kitchen sink' type dramas.

    Disappointing.
    Score out of 10? 2 or 3.

If I'm not mistaken, she was also the stand-in nude model for the porn films in 'Love Actually'....?????

Joanna Page (Leanne) was the stand in porn model in Love Actually.

I wonder if the recent Bus Drivers lottery syndicate had to vote about sharing the winnings with the one who stopped contributing ?

Well, I decided to give this half an hour and I'm glad I did! If I'd decided after 20 mins, I wouldn't have bothered with the rest but now I'm intrigued enough to watch all of it to see how it unfolds over the weeks ahead. Some of the characterisation was a bit "cartoonish" (the mother and girlfriend arguing while the brother watched Jeremy Kyle at full blast nearly made me turn off right away!) but Leanne's story is intriguing and the twist with the secret ballot was good.
