I got the Furgerson (Thomson brand) one from Argos which comes with a DVD player, it suited my budget and the RGB picture from my Sky box is fantastic, way better than my Sony W/S I had prior to it.

Agree with you about Hitachi. Not the best but certainly not the worst either. My brother has a 12" portble that is 22 years old and still going strong.

Most low end Toshiba sets aren't made by Toshiba anymore (all 4:3 and low end 16:9). They are made under an OEM deal by Vestel in Turkey.

there's a 28" daewoo tv that, for the price, really is quite superb.
£200 if you shop about for it, and that can't be sniffed at.

i got mine from 'the big w' for £230, but there's ones online at the £200 mark (plus it means you don't have to carry it up the stairs yourself...)

    dwx2880gb is the model number.

    looks quite nice too.

it's not a flatscreen face though - that's the only real downside i can say about it.
our last one died, so it was a fairly tight budget to get a replacement. managing to get another widescreen within what was left for it was pretty nice.
