    But I can wait. I'll rent it out. No mortgage on the place, so nothing to pay in that regard.

    That's something at least. A girl at my work bought her place at the peak and took a 100% mortgage and ended up in negative equity! When I asked her why she had over stretched herself so much, she said she wanted to live in the same posh area her friends did, except all her friends had very wealthy husbands and/or very well paid jobs.
