It's not something I personally would do, but I wouldn't ascribe insulting tags to the people that do. Like many other things in life, it's a personal choice and doesn't affect me, so I really don't care.
Indeed. I hate shopping at the best of times but each to their own, it's not harming anyone.
I feel for your daughter.
This 6am opening time is just so unnessecery, it's like they just want to torture the staff as much as possible. It won't be long before it's xmas day too... Retail staff need to be payed MUCH MUCH more.
It is crazy! She is a Christmas temp and is getting minimum wage for working ridiculous hours. Midnight last Sunday and three hour train sessions with no breaks. The Next managers are under heavy pressure and passing it on to the staff and everyone is stressed and nervous.

What a nonsense.
Midnight on Sunday? These are shops not A&E wards!!
Completely unnessecery.
I find it a bit sad that some people these days just can't entertain themselves for a couple of days without visiting a shop. I feel sorry for staff having to work unnecessary and unsociable hours for minimum wage to satisfy the needs of people who can't entertain themselves for a couple of days.
I don't get it. Most of the 'sale' stuff is just all the complete shite no one wanted before Christmas or from 3 odd years ago. I can't think of anything worse than trapsing around town the day after Christmas to look for some over rated trash. I sometimes think people go shopping on that day because they are either very lonely or have nothing else to do at all and that is sad for them really.
LOL, 'complete shite'?
I've had a glimpse of some of the stuff online today, and if they're anything to go by for high streets and shopping centres, then they're well worth getting up early for.

If it a true boxing day sale, like tesco, then you would get a bargin, jst for ther one day
5 am?! Get bloody life, last time I saw 5 am I was staggering through the door wearing my mates bra round my head.
If you want a bargin, then you have to queue at 4-5am, and everyone else is doing the same
Look what used to happen in the early 80 if you wanted concert tickets, for a concert like u2, you would queue at 6a, to wait for tickets to go on sale at 10am, and if in No, it was bloody freezing -12

People arent going to Next for concert tickets though. It's just more STUFF to go with all the other STUFF they got today.
Im more Sad the big stores have finally won.
They have totally whored Christmas time even pushing hard the online Christmas Day sales.
even 10 years ago they would allow Halloween to pass then get christmas going.
Sainsburys have already put out the EasterEggs.
Its complete and utter BS theres Call for all this. Its more the case they are all in total Frenzy about the internet that doesnt have to rely on store decorations etc *adding extra pressure on customers. Its all about the cheaper prices. Its not occured to one shopping chain if they took a less pressure approach it might work better because people are a lot more aware than they give credit for.
It was low quite a few of them already started cutting prices even before Christmas eve..so why not offer the lower prices to begin with? all its done is make people remember how they got shafted on a price that got cut even before christmas.
Ive been called sad plenty of times and I can see why- I play the Sims and dont have a girlfriend
if i was single id date you!
Im waiting to get all my xmas pressies (visiting family tomorrow) and if i still havent got the sims 3 by tomorrow im tempted to order it off amazon!
I wouldnt go in town this close to xmas as i hate crowds. One year i walked through town boxing day and there were people queuing outside next i think it was. The queue was huge, easily over 100 people and they were only open for refunds or exchanges! Seriously who queues that long to exchange an item instead of waiting a few days until its less busy!

So what is your thought about people that shop in charity shops.?
You are talking bollocks.
I can afford to shop pre sale but i still go to charity shops, sales and ebay.
What a door opener you sound.
I sometimes go shopping on Boxing Day - to pick up half price gift sets to use as birthday presents all year. Means my friends get something nicer than I could usually afford.
Normally I wouldn't consider it, but I very rarely go shopping anyway. However thanks to Christmas I now have enough money to buy a Wii u, my old Wii broke a couple of days ago so it's perfect timing. I'll play it by ear seeing as I was originally planning a lazy pj day

If things are cheaper, why not go shopping? Do you apply these things to every sale, because no matter what day it is, someone can still be doing something else to entertain themselves rather than looking for deals.
I'm not sure who you think you are to call people sad for taking advantage of sales just because it happens to be on a certain day.
I never ever found anything of use in the sales, it's mainly old tat. It can be decent for white goods or electricals though, but then I'll do that shopping online.
In my opinion, I don;t think anything should be allowed to open on Boxing day to give everyone 2 days at home with family and friends. It's just greed on the part of the shops with no thought for the staff
Though of course, I would say this, as I am one of the poor souls who's got to go to work in a minute..:( When I'd rather be at home enjoying time with family and relaxing..

Even if thats true. No "bargain" is worth me missing my Boxing Day!!
Yeah but Gogo people really need more stuff, they can't go a day without acquiring even more stuff. It's like a disease!
apparently tesco are selling the 4gb ps3's for £120, good deal?
