Wrote the wrong name on hotel booking
Hi all,
I'm organising a short break in Spain for me and two friends. I booked a twin room for me and one of my friends a few weeks back with TravelRepublic.
The other friend I'm travelling with asked me to book a single room for him as well as he was having issues with his credit card. TravelRepublic were having problems with their site, so I went through Lowcostholidays to book a room at the same hotel, for the same nights.
Carelessly, after filling in my card details, I accidentally filled in *my* name rather than my friend's name in the "passenger" field (I stress that this is just a hotel room, not a flight).
I rang up Lowcostholidays and asked them to change my name to my friend's. They quoted me £35 to change this!
I think Travel Republic will charge me around £20 to change *my* name to my friend's on *that* booking. (They haven't come back to me yet).
Obviously, these operators are looking to make as much money as possible from an easily correctable mistake but I'm wondering if I really need to go through this bother and expense? I can see why this is, obviously, a problem for flights, but don't get why this is a big issue with hotel bookings.
Three of us will turn up at the hotel a the same time. Is it a problem that:
a) only two of us are down as having places there?
b) I have two rooms booked in my name and will be handing the keys to one of them to my friend?
Anyone have any experience on this kind of issue?
