For the first time in 18 years, it looks like the much beloved (and repeated:D) medical drama starring Dick Van Dyke has left our screens.

Is it temporary or has it finished for good?

Technically it ended 10 years ago, though they've got plenty of milage out or repeats! Though Murder, She Wrote finished 15 years ago, and that's never been off our screens either!

Perhaps the Homocidal Community around the area served by Memorial Community Hospital (?) have either all been incarcerated by the joint efforts of the Sloan family, or have decided that it's just not worth the risk while the good doctor is still doing his rounds. He's unfortunate in having been on nodding terms with so many local tv news reporters / talk show hosts / faded movie icons / sinister businessmen and retired Vaudeville performers who count murder among their hobbies.;)

This show is excellent lunchtime fluff. It's wonderfully silly and I personally like the whodunnit aspects.

I love how he's a Doctor, yet barely spends any time with patients at the hospital. Plus Sloan's undercover skills put James Bond to shame.

The police departments confidence must be at an all time low when a Doctor solves more crimes than you do.
