OS X is holding back the 2013 MacBook Air’s 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds

With this new magical wifi used it looks like OSX became a bottleneck. In the meantime you may want to install Windows on it.

    Seems like its only certain applications not the raw link speed and who knows why its so slow it could be a deliberate thing not to over saturate the wireless link or apple haven't looked at those programs for a long while and the techs now better than the max values that are encoded in the applications so a quick edit of the source file with new upper levels for certain parameters or better detection of those parameters and job done.

    When anandtech investigated this, he found that protocols like AFP and SMB were the culprit.
