CD Drawer problem - blank screen when opening cd tray

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and when I press the button to open the disc tray I get a blank screen. I can still hear the laptop running though but I can't get rid of the blank screen without turning off the laptop and on again. Any ideas? Could it be a virus?
I already had the laptop replaced last year as all the screws on it got chewed when trying to install new memory. Oddly, the company I bought it from soon stopped selling my exact model a few weeks afterward.

Unlikely, more likely to be hardware related. Have you significantly changed anything recently, hardware or software?
Yeah, I reckon I'd probably drop a laptop line if it kept chewing up screws. I don;t know how some manufacturers get away with things like this, they just take the mick sometimes.
