The Handbag Thread

We seem to be missing a handbag thread! Do we have any other bag fans here? :)

What's your favourite bag? Do you have any particular bags that you're lusting over?

I love mine! I've got a humble, yet lovely collection. My ultimate bag would be a Balenciaga City bag in navy. Someday!

Anyone else?

    Fabulous thread!

I love handbags. Since buying my first designer one I've just lost interest in virtually all high street bags which is quite annoying since I'm now a student

I've wanted a Louis Vuitton bag for years and bought one last year - I use virtually it all the time. Then I really wanted a Marc Jacobs Stam in black for work, but everyone convinced me that I was a bit young to be spending so much one bag so I opted for a considerably cheaper but equally gorgeous Marc by Marc Jacobs bag (I'm glad I changed my mind as I've seen so many fake Stams about since)!

I've had to leave Louis and Marc at home though, 'cause I didn't think it would be a good idea taking them to uni, although the Accessorize bag I'm using at the moment is actually really quite nice.

I'm not planning on buying any designer bags anytime soon but next on my list would be a Mulberry Roxanne. I also love Fendi, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and Miu Miu!

As Jenilou said above, FAB thread!! I adore my handbags, definately one of my addictions!

My fave bag is propably my Chloe Paddington bag, I remember i had lusted after one for so long & when i bought it I just loved it so much lol My other fave is a little vintage Chanel that i have, it cost the earth, but i adore it. Its so classic & chic. I do have a Marc Jacobs Stam, but as was said above, there are so many fake ones floating around out there it kind of takes the shine off, Its annoying cos im one of those people who spots a fake bag a mile off. sad but true :o

The bag im lusting after at the mo is an Hermes Birkin. I love it, but the waiting lists are a nightmare.

What a fab idea of a thread - I'm just glad there are other shallow people like myself on here! :D

I already have a Chanel 2.55 handbag - which was a present and ultimately started my obsession.

Also have a Dior canvas saddle bag and a Louis Vuitton (black denim).

I've bought this year a Chanel Grand Shopper Tote and Chanel clutch bag.

I'm not strongly wanting another at the moment - but that feeling won't last long. :o

Out of all my bags my fave (at the moment) is a black leather fringe tote with gold metalwork from Zara bought at Christmas - its just gorgeous and makes the perfect weekend bag, and always gets admiring glances.

After that, a huge dove-grey leather bag that I bought from Reiss in the summer - that's very cool too but maybe a bit too big.

I have a number of designer jobbies (3 Mui Muis, 1 vintage Chanel, 2 Prada - one nylon, one leather, 2 Balanciaga - one vintage, 1 Chloe Paddington all bought over the last 5 - 10 years) which I tend to use for the first month or so but then revert back to my faves. Also as I'm city based there are so many fakes dangling off the arms of so many girls that I don't really like to wear my designer bags to work. I tend to use them quite rarely or on nights out.

My most recent purchase is a blue leather bag from Reiss bought on Ebay, but I'm eyeing up another at the moment.

I really look after my bags too - they are all stored in my dressing room in their dust covers out of the light, I treat them all as investment pieces for my daughter one day...

I have a small, black, leather-look rucksack that is ideal for me. Holds all my "bits and bobs", and practical. If I had the money, I would have an identical one made in leather. Heck, I might even splash out and have a second one in brown leather! :)

This is so true. It sounds really bad and probably very snobbish (I'm not a snob honest! :D), but I don't think I can go back to high street bags now. :o Although admittedly ASOS do a great range of bags....

I love some of the designer bags but could honestly never justify paying their prices. I could plaster a couple of rooms in my house.

I get my bags from Lush which aren't fakes but great copies. They are Lush branded and fabulous quality. I've had three bags from their and they have all been great. This one is on my Christmas list:,

My mother and myself merge our handbag collection. We have many designer handbags, the most recent one a glossy, Lancel handbag. I hate fakes, and I've lost interest in high street bags, which isn't very good for the pocket!

Zara does the best high street bags.

Most are leather and they have a good up to date selection - just purchased two this evening (woops!)

What a fabulous thread. I love handbags. At one point i was up to over 130 but i got rid of a lot of the high street ones that i don't use - let my friends have their pick and the rest went to charity.
My favourite bag is my limited edition Fendi which i got in Las Vegas using my casino winnings!
I also have a great day to day Gucci bag, 4 Louis Vuitton bags, 2 Christian Dior bags (one a saddle bag), 2 Lulu Guinness bags, a suede coccinelle, 2 Furla bags, a Burberry bag. I picked up a gorgeous vintage satin prada bag a couple of years bag which i love.

I have some cheaper designer bags as well, 3 Guess bags, 2 DKNY bags, a Radley.

Next on my list would be a Chanel bag (fingers crossed for my 30th birthday in two years) and perhaps a Marc Jacobs.

    I love bags too!

My most expensive (well, valuable) bag is my khaki DKNY one which I bought on ebay for £40 :o I checked with the store itself and it is genuine.
I don't use it much as the handles aren't long enough to put it over my shoulder, and I feel a bit daft walking round with it in my hand!

I also love Ollie & Nic ones, I have a few. I don't like their current collection much though.

I agree about the High Street handbags, they all look so boring and plain, and look as cheap as they are.
I don't mind shoppers so much though, I use a cute one with butterflies on it from TopShop at the moment, unless I need a smarter one if I'm going out :)

Sorry but I just don't agree with the above. Zara does an amazing range of leather handbags around the £100 mark that are just gorgeous - in fact the Zara tassle bag is still selling for 100 quid on ebay a year after it sold it out. And Reiss's bags this and last season have been stunning, though a bit more at around the £200 mark, but still great value for money and quite original too.

My fave cheapest bags at the moment are my gold Pacha bag bought in Ibiza and my cotton printed Vivienne Westwood shopper which is super cute.

No, they're not cheap, but LV's are slightly more affordable than some of the other designers.

Please don't be tempted to buy them off ebay as the majority of LV bags on there are fake.

What bag were you after out of interest? :)

Ebay France just had a massive fine imposed on them for selling fake goods, think that action was brought by LVMH the owners of Louis Vuitton. Avoid!

Have just recently decided to buy more expensive bags, which considering I only ever went for the tenner ones, is really no big deal.
Bought 2 recently Nica in brown, which I use most days, and cost £60 and a Julian McDonald in black £45. They will/should last me for years!!
Now just need some new boots in the same colours, and life will be as near to perfect as possible.

Ooh, sounds lovely Jemima. It's great to have bags that have the potential to last for ages isn't it :)

Though one can never go wrong with a nice tenner bag either!! :D

Nica bags are lovely but I never find anything that goes with them, they look odd on me. Just now I've bought a couple of Modalu. They are fab, soft leather and will do while I wait on Santa bringing the Mulberry one that is reserved in House of Frasers for all the girls on his nice list.

Next year I'm trying naughty. I heard they get Fendi!

oooh, I'm crazy about handbag! I used to buy from anywhere: markets, high stteets department stores etc. .. but since I got hoooked on the expensive ones, I've become quote discriminting with quality and style etc. NOw I love timeless classics and vintage

off the top of my head i have:

    - Louis vuitton speedy
    - Louis vuitton pochette
    - 2 LV coin and change purses
    - Mandarina duck shoulder bag
    - Versace handbag (a hand-me-down that I kept im my wardrobe for two years because I didn't think I was the designer bag type!)
-YSL casual shoulder bag (needs reparing )
    - vintage Fendi clutch bag
    -3 longchamps foldy bags
    - vintage longchamps leather shoulder bag
    - balenciaga shoulder bag (from and outlet in Italy, don't even know the name of the bag) :o
    - a real army demim haversack, that's great for weekends :D
    - two vintage "doctor's bags"
    - a few vintage no-name evening bags
-a few satin formal clutch bags

there's probably even more that don't even spring to mind...

I'd love to buy just one Mulberry bag but my friend says she'll beat me :o I'm holding out for a lulu guiness clutch bag and a LV cross-body bag, maybe next year :)

I'm currently lugging everything about in a large black bag from Accesorize. It's large enough to hold my lab coat, safety glasses, diary, notebook, pencil case and makeup bag!
