BBC HD shows mostly a simulcast of BBC Two/Three/Four & occasionally repeats of other shows when these channels are not showing a programme that has not been made in HD.
I didn't know BBC1 HD existed. BBC HD is the only BBC HD channel available on Freeview HD and mostly shows BBC1 programs at different times to when they are shown on BBC1. Some of today's examples:
The Sarah Jane Adventures: 09:00 BBC1, 16:40 BBC HD
Polar Bear Spy on Ice: Shown yesterday 20:00 BBC1, Today 20:00 BBC HD
Eastenders: 19:30 BBC1, 22:00 BBC HD
Toast: 21:00 BBC1, 23:00 BBC HD
So If Border/Granada is lumped together on +1 will we see Lookaround or Granada Reports??
West/Westcountry/Wales - What opt of Westcountry Tonight do we see or do we see Wales Tonight??

That's the question ITV need to answer. The best way for Granada/Border would probably be to adopt the following ITV1+1 schedule each way:
Changing it on different days would confuse people, while giving the smaller area the main news when only 50% of it actually covers their region wouldn't seem a good option.

Macro regions are primarily about advertising NOT about regional programmes. Same applies with ITV1 HD which currently operates with 4 Macro regions. So based on the ITV1 HD and ITV 1 + 1 Macro regions you would expect any regional programmes to mirror those of the largest regional service within that Macro region eg Granada, Central West, Yorkshire etc if indeed ITV 1 + 1 shows regional programmes at all.

You can't expect the 30 odd sub-regional variations of ITV1 to be reflected in the +1 and HD versions. Since ITV came onto Sky Digital the way that regional economies work seems to have drifted away from the old model; there used to be regional supermarkets, building societies, car dealerships and other franchises that were consistent in buying time on ITV. At least in our region the only ad in peak time that I've seen over last weekend was for Roy's of Wroxham (OK they have the whole town, but its only Wroxham!) Globalisation and the internet has changed commerce to the extent that its now surprising that ITV bothers to sell any peak time in a lesser granularity than its macro-regions.
You are completely wrong. BBC ONE HD is on LCN50 and BBC HD is LCN54 on Freeview. Two BBC HD channels on Freeview.
I've just checked the BBC website on this and I'm not completely wrong. BBC HD is being phased in. The North East, Yorkshire, West Midlands, South East and other areas do not yet have 2 BBC HD channels on Freeview.
There has been no banner advising to change to your local ITV1 region on ITV1 HD for some time, it used to be there but has since vanished.
Has that disappeared from all regions? Not that long ago only London, Meridian and Granada were available in HD and people from those regions watching in HD were still getting the message. Incidentally, the ITV1 HD schedule on the ITV website states that all regions receive the London news on HD.

ITV1 HD viewers in Yorkshire currently get Granada Reports instead of Calendar News on Sky/Freesat.

Kind of sadly what I thought...
Its not kind of sad, its kind of logical.

The best way would be for it to always be Granada, as >80% of the macro-region's population are in the Granada region.
