Are apple going to converge Mac OS into IOS or will they converge IOS into OSX.
The pundits and the analcists say osx will become ios.
I will bet you a house that its the other way.
They are both based on BSD. iOS is just a stripped down OSX optimised for power management, and with an interface designed for touchscreens in place of OSX's Aqua. They are compiled on different architectures but share a lot of source code.
I can't ever see Apple doing a Windows 8 and having one unified system for desktops and mobile devices. There will be more iOS features in OSX but overall the two OSes and interfaces will remain separate. OSX has Launchpad but it's optional and you don't even have to use it, unlike those cartoonish tiles in Windows 8. I can't see any dramatic changes to OSX happening in the near future.
