Hope Viva Forever flops, hate the Spice Girls.

Some good matches for ITV in the Champions League next round. Yet a very good chance all Brit teams could be knocked out.

I suspect that is a bit of a worry, given Arsenals poor form and United playing one of the giants.

    One Show (1hr) - 4.25m

    Last Tango - 6.29m

    The Chase - 3.52m [inc+1]
    Emmerdale - 6.72m (31.9%) +1 322k (1.5%)
    Corrie - 8.1m (35.9%) +1 454k (2.0%)
    The Town - 1.56m (6.6%)

source - The Town DMN, DS soaps and Screenwatch

That is an awful rating for The Town. One of ITV's lowest ever drama ratings I'd have thought. Last Tango did brilliantly not to lose any audience despite the change of day.

Looks like it was helped out by the Snow Babies. Pleasingly good figure for that. Very high on the cute factor and I noticed that they didn't show any close-ups when the baby reindeer were killed. Must have antiicpated a large kids' audience. Pretty sure there was no trailer screened for this programme.

Also pretty good for The One Show considering it partly clashed with Corrie.

Having watched the first two episodes of The Town, I'm really not that surprised ...

Last Tango may not have been flawless, but it was full of heart, and had characters the audience could identify with and care about ... something The Town never bothered with.

Oddly, I didn't spot a single name with any history in popular drama on the credits for The Town - and it was made by a company with more of a track record in comedy than in drama ... so where were ITV's drama commissioners to oversee things in the absence of the necessary expertise? Or might they have taken their eye off the ball with their own plans to leave for pastures new ...? ;)

I wouldn't write either team off but it's looking like no British reprsentatives in the QFs. ITV1 may as well show the Europa League on Thursdays should Chelsea (or even Spurs) progress past the last 16.

ITV bosses have done a wonderful job of defining ITV1 evening as a virtual soap channel.

To get any other audience in primetime now they will have to spend big on promotional advertising.

Of course soaps bring in the money, at the moment. But ITV are giving opportunities to other broadcasters to provide a more balanced line-up and maybe over time steal away even the ITV soap audience.

As perhaps the BBC and Sky are doing.

Awful rating for the Town, only 1.6million . Another disaster from the Itv Drama Department.

    I'm predicting

    A Christmas Carol 4.5million
    Merlin 7million
    EastEnders 8.3million
    Outnumbered 6.7million
    Mrs Browns Boys 8 million
The Vicar of Dibley 6 million

    is weaker than:

    Emmerdale 6.4million
    Corrie 7.9million
    Viva Forever 2.8million
    News 2.2million
    Christmas Carols?

We should really start to get a feel for Eastenders tonight. It has had a trailer naming tonight's episode specifically so it really needs to see a boost of some kind tonight. I'd say it needs at least 8million tonight, preferably more.

And I would add the 8m needs to come from new additional viewers not the BBC3 viewers. The 2 last occasions when Eastenders has been over 8m (November) the BBC3 rating has dropped back, meaning that the total viewership had not increased at all.

When I said ITV is stronger on xmas eve I meant compared to last year, not compared to BBC1!

90 mins of soap plus Spice Girls will inevitably do better than an entire night of Text Santa which I think averaged about 3m last year?

Channel 4, prime time seems adrift. People are not being drawn to it.

My own opinion is the talent is now stale. And the formats are just them having middleclass self indulgent 'adventures'. Making Christmas, going wild, Creating huge food... whatever... I'm not drawn to it and neither are the viewers.

Considering the amount spent on these big talent formats, compared to the docs that go out at 10pm, there is no bang for the buck. The documentaries are within touching distance of them or above in viewing figures, and get a better share.

Hardly story of the day, I know, but C4 News was getting closer to 700k last time I remember seeing its ratings reported here. Considering they've had a really big week (Plebgate scoop), that's a disappointing number.

Don't reckon it will be anywhere near 8m.

Why was Last Tango shown yesterday as well as on Tuesday? Double episode?

Because next Tuesday, where yesterday's episode would have gone under normal scheduling, is Christmas Day,

They've promoted the hell out of this big revelatory episode if it doesn't get a boost tonight then the chance of one on Christmas Day is very slim.

ITV would have loved to have borrowed it though for next Tuesday! Bung it on before downton.

EE really now need's to budge. Going into Christmas with 2 8m's under it's belt looks slightly more respectable. My worry is it will limp over 7m tonight get 6.9 tomorrow and then a low 8 even maybe a high 7m on Monday. I would like to see a high 7m and the worst tonight and a mid 7m tomorrow with a mid 6m on Monday.

I think they have lost to be honest now. Downton should surely beat it unless EE can somehow do something special.

I think tonight's episode is the real test. If it does well then EE should be fine for Christmas if it doesn't then it's curtains.

Tomorrow i think around 7m as i think Text Santa will do better this year with all its promotion Via ITV,Vodafone ,Heart Radio and ASDA. EastEnders on monday is in a perfect slot and i think it will get its highiest figure for sometime.

I must say I don't think I can stomach another telethon this year!

4m I reckon for Text Santa.
