according to the owners of this family park.

It's not just men they are worried about.

‘There is a lot in the headlines about paedophiles and things that are going on with children.’
‘We have done our research and in line with all other parks we don’t let single men or women in,’ he said.

Edit: You would almost think that it's an April Fool's joke if it was April the 1st.
No almost about it!
‘You are NOT a paedophile': What judge told man despite being found guilty of child porn offences after downloading 2,000 images

:o:o
It is discrimination, pure and simple
What research is that?
Colchester Zoo don't have this restriction, but I guess they employee people with a brain.

Do all other fun parks / family attractions ban single people ? Not to my knowledge , do they mean single people alone or singles in general.
I would say their research is flawed and their behaviour as reactionary as the tabloid media who would have us believe there is a paedophile on every corner. I do not normally hope people lose business but this is one case where I think their stupidity means they deserve it, plenty of single people holiday alone and banning them from activities is not only discriminatory it is downright pathetic.

I suspect the likes of Thorpe Park etc don't either...
Mind you I suspect that most parks are aware that:
A: the vast majority of people who go in alone are not going to be paedophiles, and a lot will likely be married but with different interests to their partner, or just want to have some time in a park alone*.
B: That such a rule is utterly worthless as most paedophiles are actually related to, or known to their victim (and thus the rule is probably letting in more than it stops...).
C: That such a rule is incredibly easy to bypass, especially if you go in as part of a group of friends who split up to visit different rides/attractions.
That all such a rule does is lock out, alienate and annoy a very large percentage of their possible customer base.
It really is an utterly retarded, pointless and offensive rule that I'm amazed the Mirror hasn't pushed for it to become law at all public places where children might go.
*You can't really go on a rollercoaster with a toddler...
Yeah, that just shows what kind of judges we have in Britain if that's true.
Agreed. Single people should simply boycott the park.
The owners/people who run it are just completely irrational muppets.
I am in two minds about the legality of this.
Apart from 70's radio/tv presenters I'd say that's not true, well not enough to put the park owners into panic mode that is.
Idiotic decision.
They could mean people who aren't in a romantic relationship with anyone.
If you don't have a girl/boyfriend there's something seriously wrong with you and you're not normal and're just sad.
That would be hilariously funny if it wasn't such a serious subject! It does show, however, the utter inbecility of the owners having such a rule.
They're basically idiots who've took what the tabloids have said (more likely guessed) about the number of paedophiles that there are in Britain as the absolute truth.
If I was running "story time with Thomas the tank" in the local library and adults started turing up, I may change the rules. Not because "they are Paedo's!!!!>:(" but because its not aimed at adults.
