Hello my friends. Let us consider Stewie. He is constantly attacking people 'on benefits' and relies on TV programmes and newspaper reports for his information. Well a lot of people will consider diabetes to be self inflicted (we all know Steve's weight problem and poor diet).

NHS spending on diabetes 'to reach £16.9 billion by 2035'

    http://www.diabetes.org.uk/About_us/News_Landing_Page/NHS-spending-on-diabetes-to-reach-169-billion-by-2035/

He deserves to be sacked from LBC in my humble opinion. Why should we pay for his insulin?

Only people who live in Chiswick can be sacked.
People who live down the A316 in Twickenham are safe, as it's a rough, tough, working class area where people of all colours live.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Have you seen the works going on there?
Twickenham is being dug up for 'improvements' for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

There's a mess right outside Waitrose, that goes right down to the independent 'sea fresh' restaurant.
King St is worse. They've suspended the bus stops outside the artisan patisserie and across the road near the fishmongers and the M&S Simply Food.

I was last there a few weeks ago and the bus stops were all over the place and no-one quite knew where they'd be able to get on or off. I carried a load of shopping to the one I wanted and then had to trudge back as far as the station. I didn't realise it was because of the rugby, I suppose that makes sense though I avoid the area when there's a match on and my local buses are diverted anyway. All the buses were 'suspended' when King Street was closed yesterday; well they'd have to be but I'd be interested to know how long it was a complete gridlock!

We had to get off by Waitrose, and stroll down to the independent Italian restaurant on Church St.
First we stopped at The Eel Pie. Haven't they done it out nice!

Larry the so-called Lamb is a Mockney with absolutely nothing to say. An awful presenter.

    There's nothing 'so-called' about it.
    Lamb is his surname.

Just been reading the comments about Chin and the jobs situation
I'm no fan of most of the posters engaging in what I was always told was light hearted banter but for once I will defend Chin
Now for myself since leaving sixth form at 17 right until the age of 43 I worked without a break
In those far off days you could literally walk from one job on a Friday and start a new one on Monday
But I digress at the age of 43 I found myself jobless and homeless when the chain of newsagents I worked for went bust
As my flat was above the shop I ended up coming back to Manchester where for the first time I was forced to sign on and live with my parents
The fact that I had never signed on and didn't know what the procedure was even bringing the back room staff out to look at me as if I was some kind of freak
For the next two years I applied for just about anything going
In the end I was lucky enough to get a job a million miles away from what I'd always done and that was as a porter and later valet in a world famous Manchester hotel
Those two years without something were the most soul destroying of my life so I can totally empathise
After ten years plus I was made redundant
The main reason being the bank seminars meetings and social functions that were the things that sold rooms dried up due to the recession and the banks failing all stuff out of my control
I then endeavoured to find something else but at the wrong side of 50 soon realised there was nothing out there sending dozens of cvs out filling out on line applications forms to companies that couldn't even be arsed to type a few words in an email they didn't even have to buy a stamp for to say I was unsuccessful
I'm now due to my father being totally housebound and 84 and needing someone with him twenty four seven his full time carer so I'm off the job merry go round for the moment but get increasingly fearful about what the future holds
I forgot to say in all this my father is also a diabetic the condition not brought on by over eating lack iof exercise etc but it being genetic
He too worked from leaving school and after retiring was actually asked back by his company for a further five years before finishing due to ill health
no doubt some would say he should probably pay for his insulin and meds because of that
I've no doubt also that there will be some who will say I should get off my arse and work
To those who do I can only say I'm saving the NHS large amounts of money by being at home with him freeing up district nurses and carers and nursing home space and I'm not the only one of my age group in this position
I'm not asking for sympathy and wouldn't expect it from anyone on here but my point is not everyone who has no job is in that position as they don't want to work
    Quite the reverse in fact
There are those who say there are jobs
In my own field retail and leisure there are ... That's if you want 12 hours here or there on zero hour contracts
I actually at one stage had three part time jobs but as they were all in retail come Christmas they wanted me in all three places at once and in Jan we all got finished
My best wishes to those of a certain age like me who through no fault of theirs are in the same position I was and to those pointing the finger YOU might be in the same boat yourself before to long
Anyway I've taken up enough of your time
    Morning all 😄

I find him very sympathetic to callers and he tackles subjects others do not during the week such as he did a show on alcoholism and told listeners he once suffered from drinking too much, i find him to be very candid and honest and he does not hurry people up or shout over them a la Nick Ferrari style.

Altogether i find him a very good listen mockney or not.

He has also done phone ins on Family problems and been candid about his.

You get to know a bit about the man and his life as well as him tackling everyday subjects rather then the conveyor belt of topics they go through during the week.

On the whole Larry Lamb is a rather good listen you may disagree though.!

He has a very human angle to him.

You're dad is very lucky to have such a caring son. I hope the state is also supporting what you're doing through the social security system. Benefits do work.

Thanks for your kind comments folks. :)One of the reasons why I listen to LBC far less often these days is their agenda to attack the needy and divide the population.>:( Anyhow can we leave further comment on the matter to the LBC Politics thread please? I hadn't intended to spark a debate.

Loving all the posts about LBC. Its great we all have different views and opinions.

A few more thoughts from me....

Steve Allen. Like or loathe he is a fun listen. Just take his act with a large pinch of salt. He is a bitter old queen but v amusing. Just enjoy his mad rants. His `in conversation` is pretty awful. He is very much ME ME ME and doesnt let the guest get much of a say.

He mentioned about Arabella Weir having a go about talking about himself and his response ? ' it's my show. It's has my name on it I'll talk about me!' .... Or words to that effect :D:D

Anyone listen to JOB today? Bit of a spat going on with George Galloway. George has apparently complained to OFCOM.

But, but, but, surely James and George are of the same ilk????
Sharing a Moet and an organic falafel down at the Chiswick Diversity Non Gender Specific Centre?

I'll wait for Jefferson to come along and mention the words 'mass' and 'unfettered'.

Surely being teetotal will not stop the usual suspects from screaming "Champagne Socialist" !

Or is Galloway a Darjeeling Socialist?

I can't tell you what I think Galloway is, him being notoriously litigious! He's currently having a ruck with J O'B on Twitter, having reported this morning's show to Ofcom. I didn't hear it but Galloway is describing James' remarks as a 'frenzied attack'. Can't be frenzied enough for me!

No, Galloway is just a self promoting, narcissistic idiot.

For all his faults I do think JOB is quite earnest in his views even if he does seem a little detached from reality.

It is something to do with James' show this morning. Gorgeous George complaining that JOB never tried to contact him to give him a chance to reply and James was saying George's phone was off! Blah blah blah and then GG said a complaint was being prepared for OFCOM

    George Gallaway

@mrjamesob it's not. Your frenzied attacks on me are beneath you especially without inviting me to respond. I'm surprised at least at you

    JOB

.@georgegalloway No attacks, let alone frenzied. Just questions & opinions. Tried your press officer. Think we woke him up! Give us a bell!

    Etc etc

Nick Ferrari. I do enjoy still . Hate the mass of adverts. Dislike Henk Potts. Very unecessary. Also the paper reviewer is a waste of time. doesnt need one. Nick does all the front pages and then introduces the paper reviewer. No point.
The traffic guy Andy is terrible. A garbling mess. I dont know how they stick with him.

I like Andy, I get the impression he knows what he is talking about -- he is retraining and hopes to move into a different career (I forget what) so I'm not sure how much longer he will be at LBC.

I thought the producer selected texts, emails and tweets for the presenter to read out, certainly at Breakfast and on Drive, but no so much evenings and overnights. Iain was just reading a selection and had to stop mid tweet (or text?) as there was something unsuitable - so presumably the presenter selects them, unless he was just filling a few seconds?

The other day I was wondering why he kept referring to "Harold Wilson". Eventually the penny dropped - it was "Harrow and Wealdstone"!

Parker-Bowles was another golf club appointment, utterly ridiculous. Calder recommended Cuba to everyone who called even if they wanted a skiing holiday in The Alps. And. Spoke. In. A. Really. Odd. Staccato. Manner.

I personally didn't mind it and there's far worse "golf club" appointments especially on the BBC (Vic Derbyshire anyone??)

My point was more that there was more variety on before and I did propose a film and/or TV review or chat programme which seems to have not been picked up.

(hopefully veering this side of Hello/OK/heat magazine- so that means absolutely NO Boyd Hilton when Bacon departs by the way......

    GOTCHA!! :D

Well, as you can tell (possibly) from my user name, I'm "Chris the Milkman". I have had some emails read out by Steve (and Olly and Cristo), but I'm nowhere near as sycophantic as Kevin.

By the way, are texts to LBC free (apart from one's own network costs)? Texts to Absolute Radio (which I listen to at 8.00 on Saturday morning (Frank Skinner)) cost 50p.

I'd rather text than email, but I refuse to pay for the privilege of supplying content to LBC!
