I noticed this the other day. The SD version does indeed appear to be a full time channel although I've not seen any formal publicity.

It's temporarily using the old bid tv bandwidth.... I suspect it's a temporary thing, until that slot is re-sold....

And the HD (well mostly upscaled at moment ) is a on com 7 LCN 109 continuously

Mostly? Have you seen any actual HD programmes?

It looks far better than the SD channel, even if it is "only" upscaled.

I noticed the SD version was on yesterday (First time I've ever seen a programme running) Is it now exactly the the same as the HD channel? I might start recording the SD channel instead as it looks identical to me.

I don't understand, it's been there for ages and yes, it's the same as the HD channel but not quite 24hpd. It may look identical to you but the PQ is far better on the HD version, albeit not HD.

Up close there's quite an obvious difference, but on my setup, at my viewing distance, with my eyes, the difference is negligible. Every time I had previously looked at the SD channel it was only broadcasting at 3am so I had removed it from my EPGs.

If it saves space on my PVR then that would be useful but hopefully they will go HD in the future - some of the US conversions have a terrible picture.
