I don't usually revise previous series' or have much interest in them in general, but from what I remember she was a delightful young woman.

The rest of the contestants imploded or never had a chance to begin with. Sophie herself was quite pleasant and never really did anything to make the audience dislike her.

Her winning was a bit like Anthony winning BB6, although Sophie was far more likeable than Anthony was. I don't really remember having any "storylines" as such.

Seavash, Marcus or Freddie could easily have won but they blew it with their arrogance leaving Sophie to drift over the finishing line with no real competition. A default winner.

Like Brian B, I think she is consistently undervalued on here. It was quite an angry, divided house, and almost everyone liked Sophie. (Freddie perhaps the least, which since his word is the word of god to a lot of people probably explains her lack of popularity on here.) She was warm, lacking in any vanity, spontaneous, playful and seemingly devoid of personal ambition. She brought lightness and fun to a house which often seemed mired in gloom. She was charming playing in the bath with Rodrigo, charming giggling with the tougher cookie Karly, charming cheering up the catatonic Siavash, even managed to be charming when canoodling with mint banter man.

I think when it comes to voting in BB, I think it can be the same as on 'The X-Factor'. People like to think that the housemate/performer with the actual x-factor would be the obvious winner. But actually those types can prove far too divisive to a wide audience, so the qualities that tend to lead to victory are consistency and reliability, not the standout or unique qualities that equal an actual x-factor. Basically someone that is easy to digest and someone who won't let you down by being too unpredictable or controversial.
I thought Sophie was okay though, she treated it just as it should be treated - as a bit of harmless fun. But she also showed some balls, like during the last few weeks when it would have been easy to stay safe siding with her friends. Instead she showed her support for Siavash even though she didn't have to.

Actually I remember Freddie being quite fond of Sophie. Not so much the other way around, but I think he liked her much more than he did anyone else in 'Lisa's gang' and would probably have been surprised and a little hurt that she nominated him so many times. I think Freddie thought they were closer than they actually were.
She certainly thought better of him later on though, especially week 7 where she only wanted to nominate 1 person (Marcus) and refused to nominate anyone else, then in week 8 where she nominated Marcus and Hira (of all people). But then she went back to nominating him the next two weeks before he was evicted.

If I had to name housemates I think liked Sophie less than Freddie did then I'd say Marcus, Noirin and David. Marcus and David appeared to have no relationship with her whatsoever, while there was a girly cattiness between Noirin and Sophie.
Freddie seemed to think she was a fun and sweet girl and engaged in friendly banter with her even during the first few weeks.

I would tell you that it was Sophia who had lupus, but I presume you're probably trolling anyway so never mind.

I think she was far from a 'default' winner like you all make out. She got 74% of the vote, wasn't it?

She was herself throughout, showed the whole "glamour model" stereotype to be wrong, her friendship with Rodrigo was lovely, the whole pregnancy thing was funny, her being drunk was always entertaining, she would come out with quite good one-liners and she seemed to be one of the best judges of characters!

I don't beleive that to be true and it's unbecoming to call someone a "cow". Please revise yourself. It's unnecessary.

Sophie was alright but I thought Siavash was far more entertaining and should've won.
(Although I didn't like it when he dumped his girlfriend for his mini -fling with Noirin. )

she put on weight...........that endeared her to many, josie style.
Also i think some felt sorry for her over the behavior outside of Kris.

Outside of that i did not like her much, but she seemed like an ok person.had what people had considered as a nice relationship with rodrigo and siavash

and as others said.Markus, siavash and Freddie all started behaving like idiots.

Your intelligent and detailed post has completely won me over. I never understood why so many of them nominated Hira. She seemed to me a bundle of pure adorableness. You would have thought she and Sophie would have got on well.

I never really thought so, though Karly was a loss I think. Noirin really did go at the right time, in fact a week too late.

I find it quite difficult to reconcile this view with the rather sad looking dead-eyed softcore porn photo sets that circulated at the time. And the bog standard dumb / play dumb schtick.

One of the worst of the default winners. Big Brother nearly always ended badly, and whenever I contemplate that fact Sophie pops up as the personification of it, even more than Anferny.

That's okay YesNoMan. People have different views of modelling.

I don't think it spolied her purity in any way and thought she was a very nice girl. :)

She won by default. In a series where the show came across as a complete shambles, she was the only housemate by the final week that the producers had managed to build some popularity around. I can't Sophie imagine being a winner in any of the other BBs on Channel 4.

I don't think she was that boring, but it's true she wasn't the most iconic housemate either. She made me laugh quite a lot and she seemed very nice. It was typically unusual for attractive girls to do so well on Big Brother (especially in the 00's), but Sophie put on a lot of weight in the house, and didn't seem to care in the slightest, so I think viewers liked that as it showed she wasn't as obsessed with her looks as people would expect.
