I was hoping people on here might be able to give me advice on tablets.
Basically I was hoping to get a tablet to replace my laptop. Initially I was looking at a windows 8 one. However I’ve just discovered that the windows 8 on the tablet is called windows 8 RT and is more of an app based tablet than software so I wouldn’t be able to use Vuze to download and other things. So for a full windows 8 tablet I will be looking at a lot more money and the tablet gets thicker and heavier.
Therefore I am now thinking about going for a cheaper tablet but keeping my laptop. Even still I would need a tablet that can run MSWord (even if it is a light version) as well as loading files from a memory stick and playing video from a memory stick including .mkv and .avi files.
Can anyone suggest a tablet that allows this?
Thanks

Do you really need a tablet? Better to get a really slim and light laptop such as the MacBook Air.
Have a look at the Windows 8 ultrabooks - ASUS and Samsung-made ones especially. Around about £700 and they come with a touch screen. Its the best of both worlds and comes with the full Windows 8, so you can run normal programmes too.
So if you want to run any other windows based software you are screwed. They will be brining out a Win8Pro which is a full OS so you can run all windows software's just as you can on a laptop, but that will come with a hefty price tag as the hardware to run a bloated software like windows it is not cheap to make .
Unless you have deep pockets then a Nexus or a ipad 2 or a mini. None of them run windows software though.
There are some windows 7 tablets about (ebay ebuyer etc) which come from China - What they are like ...I'd love to know.
Windows RT tablets will do all that, you may need to buy an app for MKV files, though. You can also connect to another computer in your homegroup and play files from there on the tablet. But RT tablets are not cheap. MS Office will be coming to Android and iOS next year, probably March, April.
