£370 rent does seem a lot then. I was charged far less than that when I still lived with my parents. In my area you could easily find a place to live for that,

You could get a box room for about £650 per month around here. It has its own toilet and sink.
I could buy a brand new flat with a 95% mortgage. (70% bank, 25% government, 5% deposits, sometimes 10%) But I would have no money to live on each month after paying it off.
Think it depends as well on how your son/daughter earns. £100 per month seems very low, if that includes everyrhing, food gas electric etc. My son gives us £200 per month for everything
Blimey! I rent a 3 bed house for £330 per month and a friend of mine rents a one bed flat for £33 per week, I live in north of Scotland.
Yes I know outside of the London I could easily afford a good place, but I don't like traveling to work, and wages drop loads as well outside of London.

Just had a look on rightmove and £650 a month would rent you a 4 bed detached house nr me

she goes to college and has a part time job so I think £100 a month is proportionate to her income.

Wage drops maybe, but quality of life may well improve. I'd be skint living in London on my wage, but here in the East Midlands I am comfortable.

Yes.............
Yes, But I pay tax to the local authority as well which can change slightly each month.

I just include it as rent as I have to pay it. Yes.

That's crazy. I just noticed where you were from.
If so, not such a bad deal, less than a hundred all in.
That's actually quite cheap.:D

Yeah I pay no other bills apart from stuff I want like Sky, but that is soon to go. I pay council tax but thats included in the calculation.
Face value £370 might be reasonable or unreasonable if your income was £400.

I would say it's high end, but considering where you live, not bad.
You could never get full board CT and all bills for less than a hundred a week, well, anywhere I would think.
My friend charges her girl two hundred a month, same arrangement. The daughter works and lives at home.
I think that's fair, but on the cheap end.
I wouldn't moan about it, it's still a great deal.

Mines four hundred and twenty odd, for a two bed flat, and that's HA.
Westcountry.

Not quite as small as a box but just a room with a toilet/shower.
£700pcm
Each according to their income, I paid half of my dole (years ago).
I've not been charging at all - but then my daughter has been saving to do an unfunded Msc so there didn't seem much point. .
