My view is 31st Dec is eve of 2014.
Therefore it celebrates eve of 2014 so new years eve 2014. If celebrating finish of year it I'll be closure of 2013.

I'll consider this in full and get back to you in the new year. I feel it warrants much more thought than others are giving it, yourself excepted of course. I'm glad someone has got their eye on the ball of the minutiae.

It's not about what it's celebrating though. The fact is that it's the New Year's Eve that is in 2013.
If we named it after what was being celebrated, it'd be 2014's Eve, New Year 2014's Eve, or something like that.
This rather reminds me of us all celebrating the new millennium a year early, because 2000 was a nice round number even though it was in fact the last year of the old one.

Don't get me started on 4 letter words now. I am familiar with your preferred options for Scrabble.
We call it Old Year's night even through the day
Don't even respond to me. Go and count your apples for teacher.
I cAn't.
Typo that one until your heart is content.
In other words, Dec 31 is the eve of the new year.
The new year being 2014.
Whatever.
Like I give a shit.
Such nonchalance!
*tuts*
Pfffft, filth is meant for Scrabble not in polite society such as DS.
Now we can't even buy bacon in marks or hunt foxes:D
Is Mark a licensed seller of meat products? It may be horse.
It seems you don't give a fox.
It was an edited delicacy.
Really? Where does that belief stem from?
