Theres farmers and people who live in the sticks and guess what theres bears / wolves / mountain cats and all sorts of stuff you don't really fancy saying "please go away" as your only form of defense and given the size of the USA saying "call the cops" could easily mean a 30 min to an hour time for someone to turn up to your half chewed corpse
Australia and Russia have many wild creatures that can kill you .
But they still don't have the same amount of senseless handgun murders that America has .
And why are Americans convinced an elite team is about to break into their house so they need a Shotgun, an AR-15 carbine, and a few high powered pistols for 'home defence' .
Non issue, it's about licenses. Here in the UK, farmers can own guns, yet guns are banned. They have to be kept in and used in certain ways though. Same with hunting.
The problem you pose has such a simple solution. But it's not really about the safety of farmers or hunters being able to hunt. It's about the gun lobby getting own way, which boils down to $$$.
As far easy to create guns, prosecute people who attempt to create firearms perhaps?
Guns in the UK are not BANNED....they are licensed in that you need the correct paperwork or you're a naughty person looking at a long stretch in jail, If the guy had no history of anything naughty then here in the UK he'd of been able to of popped into a store and brought a dozen 3 shot pump action shotguns and a bucket of shells once he'd of shown his bit of paper to the guy behind the counter.
licensing doesn't work for someone who snaps..as its too late then.
As for home made firearms......the very basic things are easy to create and never mind getting some pipe work and a few springs and you can make a very effective 9mm machine gun using plumbing parts and if someones going to make them then they're beyond the law anyway
I watched CNN before 5 and they were complaining about Bryce Williams using social media to spread his version of events. In the past people used the news channels. I doubt they'd be so unhappy if he sent it all to CNN instead of putting it on Twitter and Facebook..
Now CNN says: "CNN is not showing the video any longer."
I'm looking forward to your poetry on the subject.
Yes, dictatorships have quite a record of success throughout history don't they?
Don't bother. It's not worth it.
That forum member posts the same thing "Obama needs to ban guns in America" on every thread about a shooting in America, despite having been told repeatedly that it's not within his power.
Sweet_Princess notwithstanding, banning guns is a non-starter.
Aside from the fact that it's logistically impossible, just look at how pissy WE get when the government bans ANYTHING. (Sometimes we get pissy with good reason, but that's by the by). Imagine a shitload more people getting that pissy, all of whom HAVE GUNS. That's not gonna be pretty.
Increased legislation? Greater gun control? Sure, those are both good things that could be done. Banning guns? Might as well try banning booze in the UK. Not gonna happen. CAN'T happen. It's so unrealistic as to be hardly even worth consideration, except maybe as the prologue to your near-future 21st Century New American Civil War movie.
All these people have been killed over the years due to guns. America needs to ban guns
In an ideal world gun ownership would be very strictly controlled.
But in reality that's impossible with such a large volume of guns already in circulation and an unquestionable right to ownership enshrined within the constitution.

But strict controls do work, hence why we don't have these shootings and don't have a gun problem.

Thing is, we started from a position where not many people already had guns. Stricter controls would be awesome, but that's never gonna get gun ownership and usage down to UK levels, because they'd be starting from a position of tons of people already having guns, lots of whom won't want to give them up.
That said, stricter controls would still save a LOT of lives, and that's worth doing.
Watching a poor womans last second alive is horrific, its shows how fragile life can be. Literally in the space of a second you have gone from normality to dead. It can happen to any of us at any time. A sobering thought.
My sisters friend, young and healthy, closed her front door one day and walked to her car. She dropped dead of a brain tumour with the car keys in her hand. Life is over in a second.

We were fortunate enough not to the volume of weapons in circulation that America has when the Hungerford and Dunblane shootings happened both of which had a dramatic effect on UK gun legislation.
America is in an entirely different situation to the UK sadly.

Actually it's the republicans who have the blood on their hands. Obama couldn't get the gun laws through congress

It's ridiculous cowboy mentality
Obama is the president of the USA he should over power them and ban guns

Congress holds the cards.

Its a triangle of power deliberately designed to stop the power of a single branch as otherwise whats to stop Obama declaring himself emperor?
Hahaha, seriously? How old are you, 12?

#WhiteLivesMatter
If the answer's yes then someone from the BBC will be around shortly for a private interview

What is the point of him being president then?

It's just blatant trolling now.
There was an increase of 22m from 2010 - 2012,so the 2015 figure is likely to be closer to 360m

It's the American psyche of the right to bear arms that's the problem..
...Six?
Just guessing, like. You know what they say about asking a silly question...
