Time not working because bringing up children...

Sorry for the clunky title!

I'm filling out a job application form and have a gap of a few years when I didn't work as I had my children and spent some time at home with them.

How do I describe this on the form? Is there a professional-sounding phrase that sums this up? Simply putting something like 'bringing up children' doesn't sound very good.

Thanks

I thought of putting this but it sounds a bit agricultural - like I was growing them in the greenhouse :D

    Nest building

    Homemaker

    Mummy jobs

    Raising family

All examples I have read on CVs

Don't worry, as an employer I am used to seeing gaps due to having children and it really doesn't matter what you put :)

"doing the real work whilst my husband abandoned me to work" sounds good to me.

Thanks - don't think I personally would put 'Mummy jobs' as it sounds a bit twee (although it is correct of course). Also puts me in mind of number twos :o

And perfectly correct! Actually I would have been pleased if he had been working instead of what he was actually up to (we split up when youngest was a baby btw).

Yes, it does sound rather twee, like that hideous advert for laxatives where the ladies who lunch discuss their hard poo:D:):D Go for family commitments. Good luck with getting an interview by the way!:)
